I am producing street signs with Komacell backers behind aluminum faces that are have routed beds for the aluminum sign faces to fit into. MY immediate problem is that the Komacell shapes when cut to shape and routed have significant warpping. Does anyone know why or what I can do (if anything) to counter this warpping? I am planning on spraying the PVC with automotive primer and top coat, Then the alum. faces will be set into the routed beds and bolted to posts (2 bolts). Has anyone experienced this and have a solution or suggestion?

We have had warping on 1/4" thicknesses that were typically dark colors, so use at least 1/2" thick material. Be sure to allow for expansion and contraction. I'm not sure if this helps. Can you post a picture of the warping?

I'm with Jean. To get the best help on this forum or any other, it's best to give as much information as possible. A photo or illustration will help.
While it's true PVC 1/8" thick will easily warp, bend and flex, 1/2" should do well, no larger than the street signs are.
There are lots of other routable substrates. The first which comes to mind is Romark. They have dozens of engraving stocks in every color in the word
When painting PVC with automotive paint it's advisable to use an adhesion promoter. I like Matthews. Most of the time however I use good old latex paint which only requires a little sanding and spray away. A primer isn't necessary.
