Sad part is, these crooks are probably making a killing. They do this to every imaginable segment of the business world.
My friend at the computer store gets them all the time about computer parts....
Check this page out.... If you look to the link and even go back a few pages, you'll even see where they've ordered grandfather clocks, moving boxes, oak boards, surfboards, bicycles, air-conditioned shipping containers, toilet seat covers and absolutely every thing in between.
They must be sending out literally thousands of these emails a day, and you know they probably hook quite a few people who are not savvy to this scam....

They've nicely given you a contact and presumably will need someone in person to receive the banners and process your pre-payment for the shipping.
We all know it is a scam - so why not provide this information to your local police to follow-up on? At least one person could get some richly deserved jail-time.

Jail time? not likely to happen........ It's a form of "419" scam, commonly sent from Africa.

These people are criminals and they will tell you anything to get your money; some have even murdered their victims. Do not contact them using your real email address.

I sent a quote backck one time of $435.00 per banner then when he replied I told him I figured it was a scam cause no one would pay that for one of those banners and I was forwarding his info to the FBI. An hour later his e-mail didn't work.

Hey Wayne, it's not just a "419" scam because the trick it to get you to pay the shipping of 40 (or so) banners overnight to Africa ($$$). They've got to have someone on this side of the Atlantic to: A) Process your payment for the shipping, B) Take receipt of the banners and C) Make things seem legitimate by answering phones, etc.
If they're exposed or once they've taken in a sucker, they pack-up shop and move on to the next marks. This doesn't necessarily mean actually changing physical locations but could be setting up new web-sites, phone #s, mailing addresses, etc.
Either way, there's someone making the scam possible right here in North America. Even if they are never charged, it causes them additional expenses/headaches to keep moving every time the police come sniffing around.

Weird. I just finished reading this post and checked my email to find this had just come in...
Dear Sales, (I guess my name got changed without me knowing about it)
My name is Lionel and i (lower case) want to you to produce some banners for me,here is the type of banner i (lower case) will need: 24"x60" white vinyl banner with grommets in each of the corners as well as a text which says "Christ Apostolic Church" and i(lower case) want the lettering to me Red.(me?)I will need 100banners and For (suddenly a capital letter appears in mid sentence) the font i (lower case) will (would) like you to use the one you think will best suit the job and also (run on sentence) i (lower case) will need you to create a proof for me so that i (lower case) can get it approval (???) for you to start the banner when payment is being done. (okay, are we getting it yet?) I (WAHOO, Lionel found his shift key at long last!!!) will also like to know the form of payment you do accept so that i (oh well, that didn't last long) can make payment for you to start the banners and how long will it take you to complete them because i (creature of bad habit) will need them within 2weeks.For the shipping as soon as you get me the price i (oh, I give up) will recommend you to a shippers ( who will come for the pickup tp the delivery location which i (sheesh) will provide to you as well as the shippers address. So can you get back to me with the banner quote. Thank You. Lionel Robbins

You've got to have fun with them Rick, just like telemarketers. Last scumbag scammer, I told him the banners were something like $1,500 each, must be paid for in full up front in cash or livestock and must be picked up personally by him. Then I asked when he'd like to set up an appointment to go over the particulars & sign the contract.
BTW, last week I got a telemarketers to scream the F word at me, then hang up on me. SCORE!

Reporting them would be a waste of time. First of all it would take 14 years to go to trial and once it did someone rights would be violated, and then there would be racial issues and then throw a little discrimination in there and get some trial lawyers excited...YEP! pointless

Tom, I don't see why they would really need someone in the mark's area to take delivery of the actual banners. Once the mark has sent the shipping money overseas to the scammer's "shipping company", that's it, the scam is completed.
If they do need someone on this side of the ocean, maybe they need some truck and office lettering...

Ha Ha! Frank maybe we could offer to set them up with a logo and some stationary also...
I just assumed they will need someone to pose as the shipper because, I'm not sure how other people work, but I don't usually pay for shipping until the goods are picked up.
Rick, maybe you should tell them that you've looked around and found a cheaper company to ship the banners to West Africa. See what he says..
