My daughter is a freshman art major, this assignment was to creat a shoe. The only two requirements being that 1. it changed one's perception of reality and 2. it could be worn. She based her shoe on the yoga tree pose, she also wanted it to be very heavy. That's where a visit to her parents sign shop provided quick set cement for the base. Also our work on dimensional signs gave her an idea. She used spray foam insulation to shape the trunk and two colors of brown caulk for the bark (plus a little acrylic paint). I think it turned out great!

Here's a photo of the boot stump being worn as intended(They don't have to be able to walk in them!). The foam and caulk make the whole thing quite flexible. She had to make sure not to get any sticky stuff on the zipper though!

How proud you must be of her. I suspect she got an "A" on the project because it certainly does change one's perception of reality, it can be worn, and the project was well executed.

That's my baby Audrey, bright as a whip. She's on an academic scholarship and wants to become a comic book artist! There has never been a time in her life when she wasn't drawing.
