Hello everyone! I've been a lurker for a couple years now and thought I'd jump in and say hi.
HI!!!
A little background info...I'm a 33 year old signmaker working for myself. I grew up in the printing industry and got into doing vinyl signs for my mother's business in '94. Since then I've been in and out of printing and signs. I started my own printing business in 2003 and added vinyl signs in 2006. I decided I really enjoyed the signs much more than the printing, so I sold the printing assets and changed the name of the company to Dimension Sign Studio. I've added a CNC machine to do carved signs and have been trying to learn some hand lettering. I am trying to work my business away from vinyl and more towards dimensional and painted work. The reason for this is to try to capture a market that most vinyl only shops can't service. It's a work in progress and I am not as talented as most here, but I keep on trying new things and keep on pushing myself. Just this past weekend I painted my first cinderblock wall with a client's name. I'll try to post some pic's in the portfolio section. It was so much fun!!!!
Anyway, that's about it for me. I hope to get to know you all better and hope to get to some meets in the near future.

Welcome to Letterville Justin! I would encourage you to get up to the Waldog event in Pontiac, Illinois in June. It will be tons of fun and hands on learning with some very talented and cool folks - many from here!

With your drive and pushing yourself, the skills will develop. The guy who posted in front of me offers some pretty cool workshops himself that would be beneficial to attend.
Walldog and other meets will also enhance your abilities.
Welcome to Letterville!

Thanks guys! I would like to get to Pontiac. I think it would be great fun and definitely a learning experience. I'll have to check into it a little more. I've been wanting to do a mural here where I live so the experience would be worth a lot.
Dan, I've actually spoken with you a couple times on the phone and appreciate your time. I am still hoping to get to your October workshop if all the stars align just right!

Welcome Justin. A meet or a workshop are a terrific way to get inspired and motivated. This is a great place for that too, but face to face is even better.
