I have three computers. Two dinosaurs for my work plus a laptop upstairs I use pretty much soley for online stuff.

Both screens on the work computers appear different in colour and text to each other as well as compared to the laptop upstairs. The monitors downstairs show online headings pixelated and colours smashed to pieces in comparison to the one I use upstairs.

(you'll probably ask what kinda monitors I have /downstairs - white now slightly yellowed datatrain / upstairs - a few years old laptop that runs vista ok and that's all I know)

My upstairs laptop is in the hospital right now so it's forced me to go online downstairs to check online stuff. And I don't mind saying, is not the same experience at all.

It really makes me wonder how my designing comes across to clients. I design according to what my monitor shows at my work computer.

How do you KNOW which monitor is showing you true form to what others are seeing? Other than visiting someone else to view your emailed work to them I suppose.

I want my laptop back. Yesterday. Plus 2 more. [Smile]

There are ways to calibrate monitors, but they require the purchase of extra equipment. Generally, the newer the monitor, the better the color will be.

My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone.

It's hard to get around that one - every monitor is slightly different, as Russ says, the newer ones are better. I have a little note when I send emailed layouts that colours may not be "true" and to contact me for actual samples (paint, vinyl etc) to get a better idea of finished colours.
