On our way to a letterhead gathering last weekend we passed a sign that I simply didn’t get a solid look at first time by (size of sign, approach, and rate of speed combined). On the return trip home, I made it a point to stop and get a firm, second view. It would have been a shame to not snap a few pictures and share them.

This sign is located on the east side of PA route 56 in the little village of Fishertown near the elementary school building. It makes sense when you approach it and understand what needs to happen, however, at first glance in a stand alone view, it makes me smile and proud to be a PA Yankee! [Roll Eyes]

Remember, this is where sayings such as ”Throw the cow over the fence some hay”, ”Eat yourself full”, and ”Throw Amos down the stairs his hat” don’t garner a second look from most folks (folks - that would be “people” for those of you in the Belton/Temple, TX area). [Razz]

Have a great weekend everyone.

Looks perfectly normal to me!
(but what do I know, my ancestors settled in Pa in the 1700s)
hahaha
I also can't tell time on a "real" clock and often mix up my arrows.
Sorry I missed seeing yins.
Love....Jill

Bob, I'm afraid this sign has other issues besides the Left/Right problem. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but after studying it, I realized that the rust pinstripes may be throwing me off. You might get this signmaker to study some of Grampa Dan's samples to get a better idea of how to use the rust effects...

Signcrap Magazine called and wants to know where their Sign of the Month pictures are... have you sent this one in yet?

And what's wrong with "folks"?

I didn't have any trouble understanding the sign because it was next to Yankee Bob's photo. Just considered the source and made the proper translation.

Gilliland has made several trips to our area and is finally beginning to understand how we talk. He never has adjusted to the weather though.

Our fax machine has the phone on the left hand side- the one pictured is on the right...maybe that's how you do things in a country where you drive on the wrong side of the road?

Maybe it's a fax machine for a left-handed person?

The sign says "On left" but duh, it points to the right???

I wonder it the arch in the bottom edge has a consistant radius?

(interesting faux rust that Jon mentions, but it could be a bit more obvious- and the maker forgot to paint the hooks white)

I'd better go...

Now Ian. You have to be honest. Which side of the road do we drive on here? LEFT or RIGHT?

YUP. You're correct. We drive on the RIGHT side of the road. And since you drive on the opposite side, and the opposite of RIGHT is WRONG, logic says y'all drive on the wrong side of the road... amiright?

Jon, does that then mean that the US drives on the correct side of the road but from the wrong side of the car?

David, even though my steering wheel may be on the left, technically my car is driven from the right side.

I'm scaring myself here, but I think what they are trying to do is to get you to turn right at this intersection and the fax business is on the left (once you've made the turn).
