I was at a local Auto Paint supply store and while waiting to cash out I saw a 1/2 Pint can of 1-Shot Metallic Copper on the shelf. I thought of a small job it may look good on so I added it to my order.
I have an account there so I didn't ask the price.
When the bill came, that little 1/2 pint can was $19.70 (less tax) or $ 315.20 a gallon!!

Just be glad it's available in half pints for those small jobs. I don't know how many gallons of paint I've bought for the teaspoon I needed. Sometimes I don't have on hand what I need to mix a color.

Don't ever buy 1/2 pints, Tony. You'll be sorry. Oh, that's right, you already were.

I just got a quart of metallic copper from my supplier and it was about $45. That's only $180 a gallon. What a deal!!!!

That's not bad compared to the paint I used on my helmet project.....minimum quantity they would mix was a half-pint and 2 were required to make one color.....2 half-pints = $110

plus you have to clear coat it.

I just went to the paint store the other day. A 4oz can of HOK striping urethane was $20, that's $640 a gallon. A half pint of Dupont Hot Hues striping urethane was $54, that's $864 a gallon.

BTW, I hope you have better luck with the O.S. metallic copper than I had, fades super fast.

in the old days it was STRAIGHT ACRYLIC LACQUER.
most are bottled in 1/4- 1/2 OUNCE...ok?

1/2 PINT=$64-96
1 PINT= $120-192
1QT= $240-384
1 GAL= $960.00 to $1536.00
and ill bet these NAIL PAINT COMPANY S........

One of my suppliers sells a lot of 1-shot and at a fair price, another one of my suppliers sells a lot of it also but at a much higher price, I happened to find out that supplier a sells it to supplier b for the same price he sells it to me for. I wonder if you ran into something like that?

It comes in 1/2 pints. In my example the Dupont is a good bit higher, probably do to the colors. They tend to run close to the same price per ounce.

I won't complain how much it costs as long as it works like it is supposed to and lasts more than a summer.

When I can, I get my 1Shot products here.

http://www.dickblick.com/products/famous-1-shot-lettering-enamels/

They also have the reducers and tinting clears.....but the clear is being clearenced out.

It does save a little.

I'm glad I don't need One Shot.

Happy as can be with good acrylic latex at $35 a gallon that outlasts One Shot by a long shot.

Peace,
Bob
