Curious... anybody ever hear of a Gerber Odyssey 48" friction plotter (with auto load) having an internal plastic sprocket go bad.... to a repair tune of $3k?
My buddy had this happen.... but I googled for the problem and see no results come back for this issue.
Anyone here have this machine? If so, has it been relatively trouble free for you?

As for the repair costs, I have no idea. I did have an internal board go bad about 2 years after I got it but I had a Gerber service contract.
When I got it back, I could see that they had gone over it with a fine tooth comb, replaced several other parts and added a few others to make it perform better.
I suspect that is what the $3000 is for, not just to replace an internal sprocket. Gerber's fee probably includes doing the same that they did for mine.
If he sends it in for repair, its going to be like a whole new machine when they get through with it.
