BUT, we need a name for it. Any and all ideas are welcome.
I'll have a firm date for it next week but it will be near the end of March or sometime in April. That's a month before MMIX so there shouldn't be any conflict.
Some details:
It's gonna be held in Canaan CT which is located in the NW corner of CT on the NY and MA borders. It will be held at GHI Sign Service www.ghisign.com
Phil Ghi is the owner and a meet host veteran. He sponsored the first meet I ever attended in 1995. The shop is large and modern with most of the bells and whistles. Phil is also the Pres. of the CT Sign Association and he thinks he can squeeze a little seed money out of them. We are gonna do this on a no cost basis (However, donations will be accepted at the meet). It will run from a Fri. afternoon thru Sunday noon.
Info that might help with a name: Old train station in town...located in the Berkshire Hills...Canaan Mountain is prominent....no frills/basic kinda meet....hand stuff will be featured but the tech stuff is available too....LOTSA cows (major dairy region)...etc.
His first meet was named "Megabytes and Mahlsticks", but we'd like something different.
Any Ideas???
Thanks,
Joe,
Makin Chips and Havin Fun!

This is the first we have heard about the Winter Muster too! We would have loved to promote this meet! Barb and I actually attended the first one with our Son Adam. My health is bad, but we would still have really appreciated an invite.
Letterville was created to promote the Letterheads and our live meets. I really feel we have done a decent job of getting the word out, as well as attending and documenting meets going back to the mid 90s. That includes all the Mazeppa meets. I don't get it.
Oh well. There's still a week to go. Is there anything Letterville can do to help promote Mike's meet?
Sorry to distract from your news Joe. As always, we look forward to using Letterville to get the word out. Make sure Barb has all the meet info and we'll do our thing.
Live meets are the lifeblood of Letterheads. There are all sorts of you that visit this website everyday, yet have never attended your first meet. That's like a Kamikaze pilot with 50 missions!
We need to do whatever it takes to encourage Letterhead virgins to get away from your computers and attend a live meet.
And what about all you oldtimers? I know many are bitter about the way we do things today. Now is not the time to stop attending meets. There may not be much more you feel you can learn, but sharing our knowledge is THE most important part of Letterheads.
OK. I'm off the soapbox. There are 2 wonderful live meets listed here, and more on the Events Page

I see a poster with Joe's chisels carving out the mountains for the train, chips are flyin. A 00mack is laying down the the track. The train is steaming up right behind the brush all decked out in saloon style text.

I like the Berkshire Bash idea, just remember there was a Berkshire Class Steam Locomotive so you should use the right one in the artwork.

Kent, The Housatonic River boarders our town and in combination with the water power and abundant, quality iron ore, a few steam trains were actually built here. Here is a shot of a carving I did about 30 years ago for Phil Ghi's dad (Founder of Ghi Sign Service) that he used on a resturant sign on the old Union Depot. The image came from an old postcard....
The Housatonic Steam Train
The depot itself is said to be the oldest Union depot still in continuous use...it was damaged heavily in a fire but has been restored...
