Many folks know that Scotty passed on Saturday February 7th.
Frank has asked me to post here and ask a favor...
Once again Magoo has no access to internet for a while, and would like those of you with photos or stories of Scotty "the Wonderdog" "White Flash"... etc. please post them here or at The Pinstriper Mafia site... http://pinstripermafia.com/ScottysPage.html
At some point when he has access, Frank will be able to read them.
Kindest regards and thanks from Frank.

My favorite memory of Scotty was when we were up at Boone's place. Magoo had a sorrowful encounter with some clams and spent the night in the company of some nurses and Kissy.
Scotty was pacing around the shop and looked up every time he heard a sound. Finally he saw Frank and took off running across the field and ran towards Frank.
It was the classic scene of loved ones running into each others arms.
Frank, I feel for your loss. Scotty was one great dog!

Hey Frank...sorry to hear about your companion.
I reckon he's just a step ahead of you, this go 'round. Keep strong, and stay positive.
That last part comes from Annie...'cause she's teaching me a few things too. I thought I was supposed to be teaching her, but so far it seems to be 50/50, and that's good.
She was happy to get a hug, on your behalf...like you asked me to do. And now I'm learning from her, about being positive.
It's an often overlooked way of dealing with life.

It makes my heart very sad to hear that Frank's best bud Scotty is no longer with us.
I had the pleasure of meeting Frank and Scotty at the Head West Meet in Lodi a few years back. Unfortunately I kept myself so busy I didn't have enough time to sit down and chat with either of them as much as I wanted to. Here is a moment I caught over by Grampa Dan's Wall. Ole Scotty seemed really intrigued by the bright green helper.
My favorite story of Scotty is one of my many trips to visit Frank and Scotty. When Frank had the suburban, scotty would ride in the front seat like he was Royalty. Well this one trip I took to Vegas I rode in the front seat with Scotty on my lap. Frank told me that is the first time that Scotty had ever done that. Scotty brought smiles to many peoples faces, he will surely be missed by everyone he has graced with his presence, including the cats he used to chase in the park.

Well......man! I was really hopin' to get Scotty and my lil' Sassy together so they could pal around a bit. I dread the day she is no longer with me. I hate it. I know it hurts Frank. Glad I got to meet you and Scotty before he was gone. Hang in there brother. He was a wonderdog and you'll see him again! All dogs go to heaven.....he is in the "happy hunting grounds" chasin' his favorite waterhose.

I'm very sorry for your loss Frank. I have a 15 year old dog, so the realization that their lives are shorter than ours has been a heavy one for me with this half of the first pair of dogs ever to share my life. Her brother, the other half, went onward a few years back. You have my condolances.
You and Scotty's names have been together so often during the years I've come to be aware of you two, that at first I mixed up the names & feared this thread was about you. May the great memories live on forever, as I'm sure they will!

Part of the conversation with Frank today was the fact I "lost" a 17y/o mate too. Red Burmese Cat "Rufus" More like a dog than a cat. Was my best mate. Followed me everywhere. Knew what wet paint was! Would "fetch and retrieve" a ball of app paper. Curl up on my lap when I was siting writing on the sign wall. Cool "sign" cat.
But when the time came to do the right thing, blind and kidney failure, and to hold him in my arms while the vet put him to sleep, I know how you feel right now mate!
He's behind my shed under a red flowering native tree that attracts rainbow parrots! I only have to look out the window to remember.
Now there's Candy. Frank has seen this favourite photo of mine .... it's actually my desktop too. It's her "command post" in my studio overlooking the "opal mine"!
Frank and I started laughing what sort of puppys she and scotty could have had if it were even possible to get them together!
Laughing too because she is a typical "bitch" .... only plays games by "her rules"

Ah Frank, I'm glad you had all those wonderful times with my little buddy! He was truly a good guy. I know a few small people that became giants to me when I got to know them...as was Scotty.
Not to side track your sorrow, my dog Roscoe hasn't eaten in five weeks and is on his way over to Scotty's soon.

What a bummer. Scotty was not a dog, he was Magoo's companion...and a very dear one at that.
My remembrances of Scotty were at Fred's in Oklahoma City. He was the best behaved one of the whole group. With over a 100 people in the shop, Scotty never was in the way or seemed to be ill at ease...he simply toured the area, visiting with fellow sign folks and taking a nap now and then. Kinda like Fred.
Frank, you have my thoughts today. It's very sad to loose a great friend.

What a great shot of Scotty, and the parrott Dale.

Oh Frank I feel your pain. Losing a friend like that is so so hard. It's like losing a family member, only worse because when its a human there are times when they say or do things that just get annoying. Dogs don't. They just love you unconditionally, and are there for you, always. You can tell them anything and they understand.
We had to put our friend Teak, the brown lab down only three weeks ago. (she had kidney disease) I still expect her to be around every corner. Or in her "dog house". (under my desk here at the computer) Perhaps they will meet in the next life Scotty and Teak. And they will both know to walk around signs that are drying on the ground, and not to nudge the arm that is painting.
Here's to good dogs.

It was August when the silver and blue suburban pulled up in the house driveway across the street from my shop.I had an idea who it was.An East Coast event of monumental proportions was gearing up.Frank Magoo and Scottie were comin to town for a gathering of paint people from Pennsylvania,New York,Maryland,NewJersey,NewHampshire,Massachusetts and maybe more..... Frank walked across the road...thru the upper lawn above my shop followed closely by his travelin partner Scotty.Ill never forget that picture, against a late summer blue sky. We did the usual meet and greet and it didnt take long for the 3 of to make friends with one another.Scotty would come and see me if I called him..but he never strayed from his Daddie too far. They stayed for about a week, highlighted by an excellent meet. This is the infamous Clamfest where I tried to poison my guest with clams...We had no clue Frank was violently allergic to clams but we soon found out when his eyes rolled back in his head as he lay in a heap on the floor.I guess maybe he did temporarily come around long enough to look over at floor level and see Anne Timmerman's purple toenails...because he recollected that later after a night in Newark Wayne hospital with Kissy at his side. Scotty lay on the floor on his Daddie's gray leather apron...he spent most of the night there,.waiting patiently for Frank to return.I couldnt coax him away from that apron. He seemed to know where to stay.As Bruce says...he sure was tickled to see Frank... Scotty ruled the roost when he stayed here..Marvin the Shar-pei took a back seat for a few days...he gave up his favorite nest for Scotty....umm...no...in actuality we kept em apart because I have an idea they woulda chewed each others nuts off if we let them spend time together..but anyway..Scotty moved right in and made hisself at home Scotty was especially friendly with my new garden hose...he would run for hours and chase a water spray from a hose if someone would stand there and wave the hose to and fro...he would outlast anyone who would take the challenge. Then when all the hosemen had had enough...we would slow the water flow to a trickle..and let him play with the hose on his own.He would toss the end of the hose in the air with his nose and then chase the water that flew out of it...and do this for hours at a time.He tossed the hose in air off the top of the front of his nose....he did this so much that his nose was beginning to bleed. So we shut the hose off...big mistake. That's when his reputation kicked in...he got upset that he had no water to chase...so he chewed the end of the hose completely off...lil stinker!!.I guess Frank said he bought about 20 some hoses for Scotty in his chewing carreer! A few days after the meet was over...Frank and I went to an old abandoned farm barn that had collapsed .the roof of the barn was slate...we were collecting slates to be used as panels.. Scotty hopped right in my El Camino..and made hisself at home once again...knowing all the time that Frank wasnt far off...he sat and waited patiently as he always did... I had found some non skid rubber mat with adhesive on the back...the rubber they use on sailboat decks...we fashioned nonskid panels on the doors of Frank's sunburban so Scotty could stick his head out the window when they drove down the highway and be better able to maintain his footing....I imagined him to be enjoying the wind on his face as much or more than anyone who ever rode a motorcycle and felt that same air... It was a sad day when the travelers packed up and went on their way....I guess we said goodbye at least a dozen times.. I can still see the 2 of em headed north for more parts yet unvisited.....a vivid picture... Farewell Scotty..once more........

Ah man that is very sad news! Frank, I remember meeting you and good ole Scotty at Ron Percells Micro Meet in Petaluma. I remember when we all went to eat you was stiring/searching thru this one pot. Someone said why you was stirring so much. You said you got sick not very long ago because you had eaten somewhere, and something about seafood. I don't recall word for word. Now I know. Moving ahead July 2006 at the Walldog Meet in Lodi, Ca while I was doing the documentary. I asked you if I could interview the Scotty. It was in the back of your Surburban, I remember you got a kick out of that, then when I saw you watching the film. You was busting up laughing. He was a cool dog, you both were tight as the wings on a butterfly. I know the feeling about loosing a partner. My condolences bro...
