How do you set up the computer to require a password to launch Windows? I have a password set up but it only asks for it after logging out. When you restart the computer it launches without requiring the password. Do you have to set up users? My password is set under Administrator. Any help would be appreciated.

Try setting up another User. That should require a selection and a password then.. If I remember right. You can also add a password to get out of screen saver mode.

Dave, if you've gone to Control Panel>User Accounts and put a password on the 'Administrator' account and it's not working, then you may need to go into the Password Management thingy.
If I remember right, you need to boot into Safe Mode for it to make the changes to the 'Administrator' account... so after booting to Safe Mode go to Start>Run and type in: control userpasswords2. It should bring up a utility that will allow you to set up all the password settings. There's a line that says something like "Require users to have password to use this computer".... make sure that is 'checked'.
You can also reset the administrator password from there....

goto control panel and then user accounts. goto "change the way users log on or off" uncheck the welcome screen square and then it will require a login name and password when logging on.

If you are the only user on this computer, how about setting it up thru the bios. When starting computer, look for message that says usually either press (f2) or (del), depending on make of computer (or might be different command). Once you're into bios setup screens, locate the section for selecting a password & give yourself one. It'll probably be a supervisor type. That way, anytime computer is started, you have to type in the password to continue into windows.
