Well, last night they said 2-4 inches. Then it was maybe a dusting. Now they're saying 6 inches.
The real problem is that people around here don't know how to drive in it. A police officer who was out of his car assisting another motorist got hit by another driver. Fortunately, he wasn't seriously injured.
The slush on the road will turn into packed ice by tonight making the morning drive really dangerous.
I decided to close up early. On the way home, some idiot in front of me decided to pick up the pace and ended up sideways in front of oncoming traffic.

They don't necessarily know how to drive in it up north, either. I flew into LaGuardia in January, 2002 to install a hotel sign package in Bridgeport, Connecticut. I arrived just in time for a nice snow storm. It was the one in which the Patriots played Oakland and Tom Brady made the "tuck rule" famous.
The snow started right as I got on the road and it took me four hours to get sixty miles. I saw at least four hundred wrecks along the highway but never had any close calls myself. I am a very cautious, conservative driver and have had plenty of snow and ice experience in the past. Later that evening, I had to pick up another employee who had flown in later and taken the train up to Bridgeport. We were just about the only people left on the road--everyone else was home or wrecked.
We got the job done and had a nice time in some real winter weather.

Let's see here. This is the snow deposited after the last 3 ft. melted. So far we have almost 150 inches this winter. Lucky half of it melted during a 2 day warm spell last month. The bush on the left with the snow on top.. The snow is 3 ft on top of it. If you look close you can see the snow is up between his knees and waist. ITs up to 15 today. WOW a sunny day heat wave. According to one friend living on the North Slope it was 50 below last week. Thats -50 without windchill.
The polar ice. It's now as big as it has ever been and there is still 6 weeks of winter to make more. Global warming? HAH!

Us Ozzies are taking all the "heat off" you guys!
Colded part of my last winter was a few patches of frost on the front lawn when I went down to get the morning paper! Damn, even nearly froze my bare feet!

It's been uncommonly cold here, too, this winter. 20's on several occasions and 'teens on maybe 2. Highs in low 30's. Above. Tough, eh?
I had enough of it all those years in Ohio. We had 8 inches of snow the week before Christmas, that crippled the town for 2 days; then it was gone. Two days later, it was in the 60's.
I agree, Curtis. Global warming is a big hoax!

I really enjoy the snow up here, a fellow offroader put this together and sent it to me this week, it was about -10 when he filmed me a bit earlier on, I love playing whatever the weather, on that day I was wearing a Canadian Sportchief jacket, warm as toast!
It is fun, we were out just over a week ago, and its like granite everywhere now, very thick ice, the ice on the lakes is probably 3ft thick now. The film was shot in november, the first cold snap, but at that time the temp was varying 10 degrees over a few days. Some of the guys have much heavier vehicles that had broken the ice in the mudhole, if you go through the ice it easy to pull valves off the wheels etc.
Roll on spring!!
Hope you're doing OK, it was great meeting up in Yarrow, loads of good memories, and great to meet up with folks in real life
Just edit to add: Snowmobile loads but abit further north, in Stockholm we are only a third of the way up the country, 600kms from here its all snowmobiles, some here too but the weather is too varied.
