Car says -14F as of 10 minutes ago ... I don't know what that is in C.
The day son Joe was born it was -19F.--wind chill -90F. I looked out the window of the Jane's room and the smoke coming out the furnace stack at the hospital that day was like a pillow (all bunched up and shriveled like a swimmer's #@$*,) as if to say, "I'm not goin' out there! hahahaha!
It's all fitting, because I just watched a series on the "Little Ice Age" on the History channel, just a week ago or so. Incidentally one theory was that global warming disrupted the ocean currents that would otherwise help warm the northern hemisphere. That caused the "Year without a Summer", the Irish potato famine and hordes of other catastrophes.
Hey, you have a good day!

Will somebody up north PLEASE close the door!!!!
I know there are some out there that like the cold, snow and all that but give the rest of us a break
BTW, I went to the weather site to see if there is any relief in sight ( thankfully there is and soon ). They had a poll as to what your favorite season is. I voted and looked at the results. Fall has a slight edge over summer with spring not too far behind. Winter has a firm grip on the least favorite season.

Was hoping to hang up a sign today, but it can wait. Not a rush for it
The pest control guy just left with the skunk that got into the shop last night. Whacking out some small coro signs, then I'm takin' the rest of the day off until something else goes wrong.

Man, you guys are making me cold, just reading this stuff. It was 19 (ABOVE) here this morning, going up to around 40, and I'm freezing....thinking about moving south.....more south....By Sunday, it's supposed to be back in the winter 'normal' 35-40 lows to 50-60 highs. I can deal with that fairly well. Couple more weeks, it'll start to warm up.
My mom called from Cincinnati last nite, and said it was 0....I ain't goin' back there either.

Hadda jump start Celeste's car. Gump's was dead, too.
Mr. Skunk #1 may be gone, but his cousin decided to take his place. This time a little shouting and a whole lot of whacking the walls with a steel ruler did the trick to spook #2 out, but leaving the door open for him to run out of meant letting the heat out. Gonna be a while before it comes back up to speed.
Pipes never thawed. Looks like a bear has been hanging out under the trailer and there's a 20 ft gap in the skirting...all frozen to the ground, of course.
I need to seriously consider a winter home in Miami... Rapid

Yeah, I sure am glad those grass fires aren't cooking up for you, Si. I know those rolling brown and blackouts can be a real PITA but I'm sure you'll get over it.
Personally, I like the cold weather. It makes me appreciate the 80-90 degree summers.
Sometimes those 110 degree days I saw during my California summers made me long for home.

I'm tired of the cold. Wearing a bunch of clothes, looking like a plaid covered tumble weed with arms and legs. Now that it's a bit slow, I'd like to do some outside work around the house. But it's too, too cold for me. Next week we might hit 50. I am so much looking forward to that.

Got the sign hung up without losing all sensation in my fingers and got home just in time to spend an hour trying to get my shop doors opened. Some hot water and a hoe took care of the frost heave that was blocking them.
By the time we got Gump's car in for repairs, the shop temperature had dropped down to about 40 degrees. Oh, rapture!
The salamander heater is now officially kaput and the still frozen pipes are waiting for it to get fixed.
Never a dull moment... Rapid

Wooo Hoo...it's supposed to go up to 6 today! That's +6C. Yesterday we had to go to Saskatoon (2 hr drive each way) and the frost coming out of the roads made the highways real icy and we saw a lot of cars in the ditch.
I'm going to hop on the snowmobile, grab my snowshoes and camera and go capture some of the wind carved snow sculptures out there! They look just like the desert only whiter.

Lucking out here in northern NH. While the mornings have been -10F, those in the valley have been at -25 to -30F. Helps to live up on the ridge facing south. Today,Sunday, its +14F now and snowing lightly. feels balmy. Checked the basement for "critters" but Rapid has the market cornered, I guess. Stay warm, Ron
