Thats terrible, I don't know Monte but have read his posts here.
I wish him a full recovery.
One of my guys father had a stroke after the summer, he was only 58, full of life business going well, then the next day completely like a veggie unable to talk or move, told he wouldn't walk again, couldn't drive again, he loved cars just bought some old Thunderbird, and had a garáge full of them.
Anyway after a few months things have got better, he can talk, walk but not as well as before, and they are going to let him drive again.
The bank closed on his business, which was sad but he has his health returning, and is really happy for that.
Seems to happen all to frequently to those you care about as you get older.

I'm also shocked and saddened to hear this. I first met Monte and Pat in Ireland, at the Cork meet in 1999 - hard to believe that's almost ten years ago. My thoughts are with them both.

Although I've never met Monte, we've both been Letterville residents for many years so in a strange way I feel like I know him. Funny how I seem to get attached to my fellow Letterville residents even though we've never met face to face. I'm saddened when I hear someone is going through a hard time. Monte, you're in my prayers.

Sad to hear. I bought a bunch of vintage SOT mags from him years back to help with font projects. Strikes close to home. My dad had a stroke last summer, so it's hard not to empathize.

Hi Guys, I talked to Patsee this morning and she says that Monte is responding more and more everyday. He is slowly making a recovery that may take quite some time, but she was more positive on his outlook this time. They are trying to get to a point of him be able to tell them yes or no to what he wants because as of right now he can't really communicate well. At least things don't seem as dismal as they did early on.
She is trying to find a facility that can take him in for a few months until he gets better. That's a hard decision on her part as to which one and where she should put him. Most are the general "convalesence homes" that don't have the greatest reputation for patient care. She's taking her time and checking out some better places. Let's hope she finds one.
She says Monte's son Mike is helping her when he can. He is doing a lot of her install and repair work.
Any help anyone here can do is greatly appreciated and she will be most grateful for it. She knows there isn't a lot many of us can do being so far away, but she says just to keep praying for them and hoping that things turn out as best as can be.
See ya'll, R.T.

I've never met Monte ('Monte Hall' my little nic for him on CHAT) But he seems a 'kindred spirit'. You can just tell he's a really nice guy with the added bonus of having real Letterhead passion. I've only ever heard good things about you both, Monte and Pastee, and still look forward to being able to meet y'all someday.
Patsee, my prayer for you is that the lord touch Monte and continue the healing process to full recovery, and bless you with emotional and physical strength to endure the 'dailyness' of things you have to do. Sometimes the one who needs the most prayer is not only the ill, but the caretaker upon who's shoulders all the endless responsibilities fall. It is tremendously heavy and He cares about these things in a practical way, as well as spiritually
He sees you both.

Monte has been a fixture on this site for years, and has so many friends and people that look up to him and consider him an expert at his craft. Hopefully, he will come back from this and get back to doing what he likes. My prayers and best wishes go out to Monte and Patsy, and for a complete recovery.
