Happy New year Troops! I don't spend much time schmoozin' here...Sorry to say, there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day most of the time. I know this is a little early to be talkin' about something in the end of June, but saving up for a super fun time should be started now. I am so excited to be able to be a project leader for the Walldogs in Pontiac, that I figure it's not too early to start hyping this huge event. Bill and Jane Diaz are hosting this event that is sounding like a huge, fun Bash of a time. It's looking like 17 murals! Do you realize how many folks we need for that kind of fun!? WOW!!
So start savin' the pennies (HA! bills!) for this one, gang! Cisco and I are comin' from California and we're gonna need some help. So you folks from out West better join in on the fun or we may not get too much help, unless some of you guys out East wanna see how fun us California Crazies are to work with. Just ask Sonny. No wait! Sonny's gonna want his own contingent, so he'll probably tell ya a bunch o' smack...lol!
Anyway, I'm here to start getting the juices flowin' in the right direction. All positive thoughts for work in the coming year and all kinds of marketing ideas to get the jobs flowing to us. I wanted to paste a photo here from my recent mural, but I can't figure out how to do it. It's not on my web site yet, but will be soon. But please stop by my site, for those of you that don't know me or my work. I am shamelessly hyping for your help, but also spreading the word of this very special event comin' up. I am 90% plus at this point in coming. Only work load or a drastic drop in the Ozzie Dollar will stop us. This time I won't have Vicky to cover for me .... just close the door and "GO".
Already planning on some quality time with Si & Marty in LA before flying to the Meet with them.
Yer going to get a couple old pharts on the labour team.
Hopefully spend some time with my mate Boone at his place before returning home.
17 Murals? !!!!!! Wow. !!!!! talk about "painting the town" I think our "OZ Walldog" meet in Portland we got just over a dozen projects finished in three days. It took a lot of organising and workers.
I would love to help a little bit on every one of them, just to meet everybody.
Can't wait!

I had the distinct pleasure of helping Judy and the Diaz gang project their murals last summer at Carole's meet up on Nicollet Ave. in Minneapolis. It was one of the highlights of my year. I then was graced with Judy's talents as she come over to my wall and helped me finish my little job. I gotta tell ya, she is quite the little story teller!!
But you really should come to Pontiac in June TO HELP ME on my wall. I'll have great tunes, maybe some fine chocolate truffles, and an ice cold bottle of Birch Beer for you. This is going to be a seriously fun event...not one to miss!!
Seriously, if you have never been to a Walldog event, there is nothing like it on Earth. I will let the Diaz crew announce all the project leaders but I can say, it is one of the finest groups of talented artists you will ever get the chance to work with. And the best part is that you can work with all of them or just sit back and enjoy the show!
I have been to Walldog meets in large cities and small, and they are all great but the small town energy is incredible at these events! All we need to put the event over the top is for ya'll to head on up to Pontiac, IL and sling some paint this summer....yeah, you remember paint, comes in tin cans, smells kinda funny! So we'll see you there!
And Jon my Mate, you need to figure out how to get Mr. Tickle in your suitcase and bring him up-over! And Grab Anne and Elvis on your way out too! It'll be great to see you again!

AHa! I see there may be some bribery necessary at this event. Truffles, ay? Birch Beer? I may have to bring out the big guns, but it's just too early to give away all my bag of trix.
OK Bill and Jane...I hope I haven't been rude at jumping the gun. I'm just so excited about all of this, I could just ...no, I won't say that... I'll just think it. Afterall, the logo and dates are out and I only gave out a couple names...Oops, sorry. Hehehehehehe.
Hey Bushie! I ain't no spring chicken either. I'd love to see ya there! And I don't blame you for wanting to work a little on everyone's, so do I! That's the only thing about being a leader...ya gotta hope that everyone comes by to visit, if not paint, so you can meet and schmooz and get to know everyone.

Who would I have to contact for making application to join your crime syndicate as a member of the Wild Judy Gang? I would sweep floors, wash windows or steal new hubcaps for your van, slice onions and garlic just to be able to splash color at your side.

Wallddog Meet in Pontiac, all I can say is...Come on down, it'll be a BLAST that will last you a life time!! Judy, you know how to give a early notice, but I guess the sooner the better, because good help is what we will all need. If I finish mine before yours, then I'll come and help you and vice a versa.
Dale, can't say if I ever had a Birch Beer, unless it was one of those that Bill had in his ice chest, he a huge variety, but sounds like a good invitation for me.
Crazy Jack, you are more than welcome to kick it with me for long as you like, bring your famous harmonica, love them blues.
Brother Jon, looking forward to meet another Ozzie, if you happen to come around my little spot, you're more than welcome to join in.
I know in time there will be more who will decide they want to paint up the town in Pontiac, so start planning now. This will be one of the big ones!!

I know he will come if he can. Also talked to Ann in Kiwiland last night and put a flea in her ear about the Meet. No doubt she will pass it on to Elvis!
So, you never know how many "down unders" may turn up!

Don't let the amount of walls fool ya. A lot of them are pretty small. They'll be literally right across the street or just down the block from each other. We plan to have fun or else. They're lining up entertainment and everyone who registers (when we get that up and running) will be fed and be able to have a nice home to bed down in. Those with RV's or campers will be able to hook up free of charge.
Work that doesn't get done because of rain, tornadoes or whatever by Saturday will be finished by our crew. In case the numbers are light, we plan to recruit locals. We learned this from Carole in Minneapolis. We've learned something from all the past meets we've attended, and this one will be documented somehow. We're wanting to get it on national TV, because most people don't have a clue what walldoggin' is all about. We feel people will find the whole scenario fascinating.
Get your towns lined up, I still got a few more years in me.

Ah Yes, the CD Mr. Stewart had me load up...yeah, it's still in the mix. I just downloaded a bunch of Blues songs from artists I have never heard of before....I have to be able to intice people over to my wall for help...looks like it'll be the battle of the bands. Perhaps we should all have a music swap!
I hope you guys can make it down Pat, would be great to see you again...sorry I couldn't stop by on my re-location trip...but I am just across the lake now?
maybe I'll swing over to Brooklyn for a race one of these summers?
...and I also hope Julie Bertrand and Lisa Hopkins can find their way from this sunshine state, along with their husbands...
Ms Hopkins painted circles around me in Clarkville, with some very fine-looking marbling. Bill D. saw it. And her husband was top notch. Though not a painter, he fit right in, because he was just plain fun to be with.
Julie showed up in Lodi and proceeded to show Gary Anderson how to use a brush, (for a little while). I got pics
FranCisco, Dale, Micheal...I hope nobody gets arrested for disturbing the peace. I think the whole town should suspend all rules and regulations, for one weekend, and let the walldogs rock.

Jon, we have the full bodied beer in a wide array of styles in Pontiac. In Illinois you can buy beer everywhere -- gas stations, grocery stores, Wal Mart -- no worries! If I had the time I'd brew you a batch of my famous Dizz Potent Ale and you and I could venture into the countryside, pull up a chair, gaze at the Big Dipper and listen to the corn grow. With even more time we could sit in with the buds on the pontoon boat, put some poles in the water and see if we can stir up a few Largemouth Bass. Ahhhhhhhhh summertime .......... I can't wait!
I almost forgot I could give tours of Illinois' oldest prison (138 years), complete with death row and home of the state's worse offenders. Our now notorious governor decided to close the place, because he wasn't getting his way, or somebody didn't pay him off. He accepts any and all bribes, you know. It looks like he'll be impeached soon. The irony is the prison might become his new home which we can then rename "The Governor's Mansion." It'll probably be a first to have the state's last 2 governors in prison at the same time.
Pontiac is the home of 3 swinging bridges, the nation's oldest and still running holiday basketball tournament (both high school and college) and the site of 2 motion pictures. The best one was a "c-" grade movie "Grandview USA" which starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Jason Leigh and C.Thomas Howell. They were youngsters then (1982). Jamie was a real hottie. Folks here are still talking about the time when she flipped off her shirt in a clothing store -- in front of everybody -- so she could try on a blouse. Can you imagine? Mercy! The film also had aging teen idol Troy Donahue in it.

And I'd really like you to help me on my wall some - as you did in Lodi. It would be my distinct pleasure and great honor. (You can help others too - but if you're coming back to Illinoiz, yer' obligated to work with a native son . . . being that yer' a native son too)
So whattaya' think? The Diaz clan lives in a great city (that needs our help) and they're a great family . . . it will be memorable, I'm 100% sure.

OMG! OK! I gotta stay on it here! I can see Wild Team JG has some downloading of song to do on my new iPod Touch. What a great new toy hat is! OK, let's see, I got some of the best jazz/Latin/Flamenco guitar, Blues (goes without saying), rock, slackin' a bit on the bluegrass and reggae, but will catch up. Sorry, country western is waaaay too hard for me to swallow. But I have Pandora...gotta try it. Pandora.com. It's free and you can dial in any genre imaginable. I promise to have a chick in every pot...no comment on that statement...an personal air conditioner for each person painting, blue skies always, spot lights at nite, dancing girls, hot men, brave hearts, brilliant minds, fabulous conversation, notorious jokes, and lots of color...off and otherwise. OK...you California folks...Where are you? Course the whole West of the Mississippi gang needs to wake up and bring it on! Afterall, if the Aussies are comin'...it ain't nothin' to travel a couple thousand miles! Hey Dana! Love that rasta boy you have! How did you load that photo? I couldn't figure it out? Dah.

Well, thanks to Dana, I can add my most recent mural to show off. It is, unfortunately, a little blurry. Sorry. The mural is 16' x 8'(and a little more on the ceiling...Spiderman) and I couldn't get all the wall in on the picture cuz the room wasn't large enough to stand back. But the whole thing was so much fun, I had to share it. It's gotten me so jazzed about painting Super Heroes, I want to do some personal painting of my own about them By the way....this wasn't for a kids room, it was for a man who's in his 40's.
OK. I hope this works. I'm not sure if I did it right. Well, I previewed it and it didn't work, sorry. I don't know what I did wrong. Oh well. I'm gonna add it into my web site and then I guess I'll show off there.

I guess the best way to get together with you Westcoast Letterheads is to travel 2,000 miles east. I'm going to try my best to make it to this one. I've been really itching to go to a meet. The next best thing was going to a YESCO design conference last Oct. There were a couple of heads in attendence (including Mark Oatis) but nobody opened a can of paint or got out a brush. It will be nice to get away from the fires and earthquakes next summer and sling some paint in Illinois.

Actually the cheerleader thing was what they did in Jacksonville, so of course in planning any event, you tend to copy the best parts of past meets.
On our wall in Jacksonville we looked forward to those cheerleaders coming by in those golf carts with water, sodas, candy bars and such! You know -- No pain/No gain! It's pretty rough stuff being a walldog you know. And who let 'em out ... who ... who!
Judy I'll make sure I contact the regulars at Bob & Ringo's (dead animal tavern) so they can form a committee to make sure some football players bring you some treats -- dressed only in shoulder pads and speedos! What say you! Maybe they can hold your paint pallet whilst you create.
