I wanted to inquire about a monument sign that we are to quote on. I believe it may be a little out of our league and am seeing if anyone would be interested in hte opportunity, even perhaps a collaboration of efforts.
This would be a 12' x 37' locomotive fabricated from square metal tubing, mesh and dimensional lettering. They want it done by or around the end of Winter. Detailed engineered specs are leaving me not even knowing where to start on the quoting process.
I have some specs and the customer is not having luck finding another company to pull it off.
If anyone is interested (or curious) I can send you what I have received and answer any questions that I know the answer to.

I'd be keen to see the spec's too, please, Corey.
I know we're downunder, but I've been considering a front-on train idea over the last six months.
I wouldn't think a train would be any harder than some of the coaches we've done...

The drawings are somewhat complex and confusing like most drawings done by engineering types but I was able to figure them out with a little study...
The drawings were done by someone who's obviously more of an engineer than an artist... and suffer a bit as a result.
I'll be bidding this project as the drawings show and also redesigned in a major way... to be a fully dimensional train instead of flat like the original drawings show. All the bits and parts of the train would be in the right places too in my version. There's a water tower as well, and it begs to be tweaked heavily to fit with the scale of the train. I obliged, and with the redesign made it much easier to build, transport and assemble in the process.
Its not a terribly hard project either way, but my way would be a LOT more fun. The end result would be an award winning design intead of a flat (and somewhat ugly) billboard like the original design.
As per usual, the price will be about the same with either version... I can save considerably on materials my way, but the labor would be a little more making it a wash between the two versions. The end result would be much more spectacular for sure if I get my way!
I spent a couple of hours tweaking the design and putting together a good looking proposal. Now we see if it all flies in Yarrow...
