I'm a warm blooded person. While I live in a country often called the great white north, I choose to live in the warmest part where snow is rare and it only freezes for a short time each year.

I don't own a pair of boots, nor a winter coat and I'm not about to buy them anytime soon. Its a matter of principle.

In the last week however we've been enduring a cold spell... REAL cold - at least for these parts. Last night it got down to -18 celcius and the high today was -9 celcius... not bad compared to many parts of the country, but COLD for us.

I even brought the tractor into the warm shop so it will start easier when I plow the driveway AGAIN tomorrow.

I have to really hustle when I go from the house to the shop and back too. I've had to put on a long sleeve shirt over my T-shirt and even button it up to the top too! ITS COLD OUT THERE!!!

Its SO COLD I even heard Donna complain - just a little. And the other day she confessed that while Cody went out to play in the snow she was curled up in front of a roaring fire... probably snuggled under a warm comforter too!

As I type this entry I can hear the wind howling outside, and the weather forecast is for a considerable amount of SNOW in the next couple of days... and not the wet heavy kind we normally enjoy in these parts. They are forecasting powdery snow with heavy drifting and even whiteouts in the next few days. I hear we may even have a white Christmas... something pretty rare in these parts.

I hope you are happy Donna....

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for in Yarrow...

The Global warming myth is over..
Go git yerself a decent winter jacket and get it over with.
OR, you could continue to be a rock head teenager, insist that you are not cold and finally catch pneumonia. Then get your decent jacket anyway.

I obtained a really nice down type winter jacket this is really warm for just $15 bux .. That's right $15 bux and I am warm and toasty when I go out to play..

Huh.. Does that mean you have no intention of plowing my driveway too? [Confused]

I'd like to order you up one of them new fangled heated cab covers for your lil old tractor complete with a coke cooler, but... [Rolling On The Floor]

K, well how about I give you one of these if you do? [Applause]

Ah, whatever. Tractors for plowing snow are for sissies anyway. Did I say that out loud? [Bash]

Ok, 40 min later, the storm finally hit. There is a road lampost right across the street from our picture window and provides the most amazing view for snowfall at night.

Only, well, this isn't a snowfall. I don't know what it is. Snow hurricane perhaps?!? Candles and firewood are ready but I sure hope we won't need either.

I'll admit Cody and I have been anxious all day for this pending snowfall. Lots of warning and I even cut my out of town shopping early to be safe and sound at home. I was pouting only minutes ago. Now I can't unraise my eyebrows... gah

Ok, adult worrying over. Let's see some accumulation already! Yahooooo!

I too chose to live in the warm weather part of Oregon and mostly never wear anything warmer than a Pendleton shirt and a pair of Rockports but lately its been cold here around 0 Celsius at night. With the price of propane its a no brainer to use the wood stove and keep the thermostat at 16 C so when the wood heat is no more during the night the propane heat goes on. My shop is fairly large but has a heatpump and that's where I spend my daylight hours. Snow here never accumulates plus I've only seen it snow maybe 5 times in the 12 years I been here and I love the snow cause I never grew up. I got a vehicle for each situation whether snow, rain, mud and almost never find myself in need of help from anyone and I have never had any flu in all the years I been on this planet.

I always say, life is what you make of it and if it doesn't suit ya, move [Smile]

I moved here because Western New York just wasn't cold enough.

We just received 12 inches of snow Thursday night. Now the cold is moving in. Feel like temps tomorrow will be -30 to -34F with 25-40 mph winds. Looks like a good day to stay in.

Today I was downtown Milwaukee and it was full of cars buried in snow. Right now the wind is pounding outside, should make for some rather nice drifts by morning.

but hey, this is normal weather for Wisconsin.....keep warm, happy holidays.

snowing like a baaaaastard here!!! i love it! i've already been skate skiing today. suppose to get another 18" at least. life is very good. its been one of the first christmas's in a very long time, that i've actually had a minute to enjoy the b4 part..ya know, baking, visiting and decorating a tree. i guess that's the silver lining of our struggling economy. if its going to be a little slower then what more could you ask for than a white christmas with lots of snow so the conditions are awesome!

I hear ya Karyn. Seems when those downtimes hit, when we take the time to experience 'real' life, it only enhances our own.

It's been slow for me too but in a blessed way. I've needed to work on the house, and now I'm finally setting it up and taking the time to look around and enjoy all the efforts! Oy but the housecleaning never ends though in order to keep it looking new!

Decorating up, Christmas music playing, baking with Cody, wrapping presents, going for coffee here and there, it's just so so nice to take the time to just enjoy.

30 cm so far, and still have some systems on the way. Supposed to be a balmy -6c today, which is like a summer day, seeing as last night was -25c. Sweet!

Our big snowfall didn't materialize. (boo hoo!) Dan's tractor is probably enjoying the warm shop all the same. Much like coatless Dan I imagine. [Smile]
