I am having a problem with my VC finding certain crop marks.
I can print the same print three times in a row.
1 time it will cut fine, and the other times there is a crop mark that it wont locate.
It always gets hung up on the same crop mark per print... but not the same one on different prints.
Does that make any sense?
For instance, I printed seven copies.
5 prints cut fine The second print will not get past the bottom left crop mark. The other one wont get past the bottom right mark.
I have tried those last two prints time and again with always the same results.
It goes along till it gets too the mark, and it acts like it sees it. It stops, moves around like its getting lined up... the beeps and says crop mark not found.

By no way am I a guru (on anything) but the only time I've had a problem with the VC finding the crop mark is when I had advanced the material too far into the machine (trying to save material) before printing. Techs told me that I need to insert the material into the machine, let it go through its little set up where it pushes the material out to the first groove (first when facing machine) then they told me to do a sheet cut and allow the material to resume its place at that first groove and then start printing from there. I never do the sheet cut anymore, but do align the material to the groove then print the crop marks. Before, my crop marks were printing way to close to the front edge of the vinyl for the eye to catch the crop mark and it would go out and search, move around like it was looking for the mark, then tell me it couldn't find it. Hope this makes sense. Do you think this could be your problem? Probably not since the machine gets it right on all the other prints. Sorry, it's the only thing I could think of. Good luck and keep us posted if you figure it out.

is there enough material at the end of the cut. I thought I read somewhere at least 3" after the registration mark is needed. I have cut short, I just taped additional material to the end. or the print is not in square enough. I see what Kymi is saying, use the cut edge to be sure you are putting the material back in square. use the groove on the VC with the cut edge. Not enough material or putting print in unsquare are the only problems I have ever had. Hope it's nothing more.

I've had that problem when i didn't advance the vinyl enough before printing the next set of prints/crops. try temporarily covering up the crop mark that is sitting near the one it's trying to scan. Just put a piece of white vinyl over it. It'll probably solve the problem.

The material being too short coould be the problem so I wouldn't rule that out.
If that's not it, it may be that the clear strip on the top-back part of where the head goes back and forth (real technical huh?) is dirty. When we had our VC, we would occasionally have to wipe that down with some alcohol to clean it off. It's been over 2 years now since we got our SolJet so I'm a little fuzzy on the details.
Gimme a call if you need me to splain it a little better.
Good luck...
