I have some shapes to cut out of dibond. I would like to do it on my router.

What bits, spindles speeds and feed rates have you had success with?

Thanks

Hey Blake

I use an ONSRUD 65-026 (.25") at full spindle speed, about 120-135 ipm.

gives me a really nice edge with decent chipout

Blake - we cut at about 150 inch/minute at 12,000RPM using either a 1/4" or 1/8" end mill bit (straight O type) depending on the size of the letters/shape.

If the material is 1/8" thick we cut in one pass, if thicker we cut in two passes just for safety sake.

Also, if the letters are small, we apply double stick carpet tape to the back, as well as screwing the piece down to the table, so that the dust collector won't suck up the little letters.

If you have a vacuum hold down system, the tape isn't necessary.

Thanks Amos and Mr. Chapman

I had a 65-025 so I used that.

Like they say down here... it worked Maaavalus.

I use a Belin up cut spiral O flute #33635. I can't compare it to an Onsrud because it's the only one I use but others have told me it's the best for cutting aluminum composites like Alumalite and DiBond. I've cut a lot and it's still crazy sharp. Produces a very clean cut but small stuff may need extra help to hold em down with the up cut bit. 12000 rpm at 120 to 150 IPM.
