I am going down from 3 computers to one. All run Win XP pro and one of them has Omega loaded on it and it runs with no problems. My problem is that I have that one shut down and am trying to load Omega on the one computer that I will be using everyday. When it didn't load on that one, I tried loading on the old server that I will be shutting down when I get all the files off of it. It wouldn't load on that one either.

My newest version is 1.54 from Sept 2001. I am not interested in buying an updated one as I don't hardly use it. But I have to get into an old file now and can't get it loaded.

I don't understand why it loaded on this other computer and won't load now on either.

Any ideas what to do.

The only reason I know of, why Omega won't load is not being able to read the security key.

Is the rainbow driver loaded prior to installing Omega?

Is it reading the security block?

Iagree with Bob, the installation, and/or configuration of the rainbow Sentinal Driver is always a prerequisite to be performed prior to installing Omega. Another complicated part of that procedure that I recall having trouble with is identifying the port in a dialog box that has "ON" and "OFF" settings by a list of ports such as COM ports, LPT ports and USB ports... and for a USB dongle, you not only need USB to be set for ON, but you need to have all other ports OFF, so Omega always looks only to the one right place.

I agree with Doug and Bob. It is most likely the security block, and if it is giving you trouble, you should just get in touch with Gerber tech

I tried loading the rainbow driver first and then the software...still no luck. I called Gerber, they referred me to Hyatt's as thats where the previous owner bought it at. I called Hyatt's and they can't help me unless I spend 500.00 a month on goods or for a fee...which I understand. But then again. You spend $5000.00 on a software and can't get any help.

Now what?

What type of security device is it? The old type on the parallel port or do you have a USB dongle?

I use 2.6, so its been awhile since I ran 1.54

I usually do a completely clean installation, remove all that was there before and start from scratch.

Are you getting error messages, do you have other programmes running sentinel system?

The following isn’t going to address your install issue of the 1.5x package; it will however get you access to vector data for use elsewhere.

  • Download Omega 2.6.1 from www.gspinc.com
  • Install the entire software suite (it will run in Demo mode and that is OK)
  • Use the security free utility called File Convertor (Start>GSP Omega>File Convertor in default installation)
  • Convert (single or batch) plt file(s) to eps, ai or other supported format that you can use
  • Little time investment, no out of pocket money, you get access to useable vectors

Consult the Help file within File Convertor for assitance if needed.

Come on Laura, you can't expect to get support for a 7 year old version of software.

I uderstand your frustration though and Bob has offered a great alternative solution.

I finally got it. I didn't realize that I had to install the rainbow driver first (as I couldn't find any installation paperwork). I had to install , re-install, reboot, re-install, reboot, etc and I finally got it.
