What a drag....

I open iTunes on my desktop pc and try listening to some jams whilst working, and my illustrator and photoshop slow down to a crawl.... screen redraws are choppy and lagging behind....etc...

Close iTunes and *some* of the resources come back, but it seems to not return all memory - - so I have to reboot my programs.

Does this happen to anyone using iTunes on the computer while working in your vector/raster programs?

Edit: Should mention - this is a Dell Core 2 Duo with 4 gb's of ram... and a separate video card.

That sould not be happening bro. Not with 1 gig of ram... 4 gigs!!! no way.. something is up. I run Photoshop / Illustrator / Flexi and cut back and forth between iTunes and online radio all at the same time everyday. Never have to restart. The only question I have is, does Windows run another program to use non-microsoft programs? What I mean is, does it run a "Rosetta" equal to run iTunes? I'm using an iMac G5 - 2gig RAM. Once in a while Flexi messes up .. but that's Flexi.

Guys....this isn't on a Mac...it's on a PC...running Windows XP. Mac isn't involved at all...

It's a DEll Core2 Duo with 4 gb ram. Has a separate video card...I think it's an nvidia 256 mb of some sort...

Strange, huh?

Todd,

I've tried running iTunes on Dual-Core with 2 gigs of ram and Vista 32 bit and ran into the same problem.

Monday, I installed iTunes on my new quad-core with 8 gigs of ram and Vista 64 bit. It did much better but I could still see some performance degradation.

I took it off and installed an old copy of MusicMatch. Works perfectly.

Todd, my computer guy (PC of course, I don't need a computer guy for my Mac's)took a look at my Dell because Illustrator CS3 was crawling and he found something that was running in the background that he didn't recognize. We deleted it and Illy started running like CS2 did before the upgrade to CS3....fast!
