I've tried everything short of calling Corel and Roland to get my Camm 1 back up and running. Old Paint was a great help, but something's just not right. Either the driver that I downloaded is incorrect or some setting is off. Anyway, I'm done cutting from Corel. Next week I'm getting X4, so I was thinking of grabbing CoCut as well. Do any of you CoCut users have opinions about the program?

Couldn't live with out it.. I use it all the time.. Cocut PRo is the only way to fly with corel draw..
I got it for the same reason you did. I got tired of playing around wasting time trying to get my cutter to run on the cheap..
I started to use it at version 9, they gave FREE upgrades all the way to 11. at twelve they asked for a modest upgrade fee and since then have upgraded for FREE again to x3..
This program does way more than just drive your cutter. just get the free trial, test it and see for yourself.
This is a complete package that is a plug in for corel, autocad, illy and a couple of other vector programs. Some call it a bridge but it is not a bridge.
You can try a 30 day trial free from cocut.com.

Terry, you may have the wrong driver. I had a friend of mine send my son an old Camm 1. I got it up and going for him. The driver I downloaded from Roland would not work. The driver for my 960 would
as far as CoCut, never tired it but have only heard good things about it.

Your problem might be that the roland is set for Mode 1. You need to set it to Mode 2 for HPGL. Mode 1 is Rolands own custom language. Or make sure its on AUTO If its connected parrallel, you might need to set your parallel port to SPP instead of ECP or EPP

I need help! I downloaded the trial version but I'm not sure if it will work the way I need it to. The computer I use for my plotter is not the same one I use for the internet. I downloaded it to a removable drive and tried running the program on my production computer. It's giving me error messages (can't describe now, as I'm on a different computer-different location). Is it posssible to do what I want or can I only run it on the computer I sign-on to the internet with? I'd like to buy the program enventually but I'd like to try it and see if I can make it work first. I'm using an Anagraph AE75.

Sorry about the additional reply. I think of things after I send. Does anyone know the U.S. price for Co-cut? They only show Euro.

LOL Jerry...in 15 years, never needed the use of a "bridge program"
We all have our opinions and preferences
Paying twice as much for a bridge "add on" to an excellent program is just kinda silly.
IMHO

IF cocut were just a bridge (which it isnt) it would be a little pricey.
Cocut is a plugin. It works seamlessly within corel and a ew other vector platforms just as eye candy works within photoshop. Yes, photoshop is a good proggy but eye candy puts the spice. Simply design the work. Click the icon and away it goes. All without any effort of any kind.
Cocut is not a bridge program There is nothing to export out and import into.
Cocut especially the pro version which I use is so much more. All any one has to do is get the demo and see for themselves.

I've had the drivers loaded so I can cut directly out of CorelDraw for years, but never use it that way..... I have tried to get use to it a couple times when I first reload a computer and always end up loading Cocut.
.. and like Curt says, IT IS NOT A BRIDGE PROGRAM... but a PLUG-IN which is entirely different. It works inside Coreldraw and provides a button on the toolbar that allows you to cut straight out of Corel. No exporting or importing.
A few things I like...
You can easily set your accuracy and speed which I change frequently depending on if I'm doing large graphics or tiny lettering.
Also, I like being able to cut my graphics from where-ever they are on the page, without having to place them on the 'Active Page' or whatever it's called...
Even though I normally segment my graphics manually in Coreldraw, Cocut does have a nice segmentation tool if you are cutting graphics wider than your available media...
You can also 'Sort' your graphics so it starts at one end and works to the other... this is handy if you have a bunch of objects spead out across a large area and the cutter is running all over the place wasting time traveling between them...
Another thing I like is all the drivers for the different cutters. I fried my 52 incher, and had to drop back to my 20" machine for a while... then I bought a 24 inch cutter and took the 1000A back off... all you have to do is select the right plotter in the drop-down menu... No muss, no fuss, up and going again in 30 seconds.
There's more, but that's a sampler.... like Dave said, it's opinion and preference but I sure have liked CoCut through the years.

Can anyone answer my original question regarding the trial version of Cocut? Since I use my plotter on a different computer than I log-on with is it possible to save it to a thumb drive and open on the right computer? I must be doin somethin wrong. Or is it not gonna happen that way?

If I remember right. The trial is keyed to your machine. If that is the case then it will not run on another.
They sent you a 30 day pass.. Yes? How did you get that pass. Did you send them a code of any kind? OR did they just send you a code to type into the software. I do not remember the sequence.
In any case I would run it on the cutting computer. I use anagraph machine as well. It runs perfect with cocut..
