Hi all. I am on a journey to see if there are any (serious) ways to recyle weeded vinyl, transfer tape and backing paper. Here in Airdrie, everyone seems very recycle concious. We just want to play our part in helping th eenvironment.

We have recycled some of it for entertainment purposes: vinyl balls for smacking unsuspecting co-workers and modern art "sculptures" made out of vinyl balls/scrap pieces. The backing paper could be recycled and transfer tape could be burned to create energy but that releases CO2 but it might be a bad tradeoff. I once made a vinyl sculpture of George Bush hanging himself. It was a lot better art than some of the junk that has fetched mega bux.

In always save the backing off my vinyl that's been weeded, for my art room .I use the shiny side for mixing oil paint or acrylic paint on, for my paintings that I do. ( It saves me from buying tablets at the art store!! All my scrap vinyl goes to the local schools for their art classes .

Here we can recycle our transfer tape, our backing paper and just recently our corolast scraps. The weeded vinyl does go into the garbage, but any small unused scraps are given to schools like Debb does. Any larger bits of vinyl are saved for future where they can be used in smaller jobs. We are quite diligent in recycling what we can.

We also donate a pile of scraps to the school. The backing paper works great for hand-cutting small stuff out of leftover vinyl pieces. If you lay several pieces of backing paper on a work table (one layer slick-side up) and a 2nd layer (slick-side down) then lay a heavier sheet of plywood, foam metal or whatever on top, it will be easy to spin around or move. The only thing I have been able to do with app tape is sometimes if you're careful, you can peel it off and use it again for something smaller, especially the clear tape.
