Rene is a very good friend who like Raymond can't resist a good poke when the opportunity presents itself. Its a fun game we like to play.
I had no end of fun creating Rene's name plaque for the Router Magic Workshop... from the first rough sketches all the way through to the last brush stroke.
And now that I've kept my French friend waiting long enough I can finally reveal it here.
There's plenty of symbolism in this piece (like Raymond's) Let me explain...
The tank of course represents Rene's AXYS router, a fine machine (ALMOST as good as a MultiCam) The frog is Rene of course, my Quebec brother. The cork represents an old fashioned pop gun... no true threat, but a little stronger than a pea shooter. I was going to put on a spool to wind the string on but alas, Rene's router has no automatic tool changer and so he will have to jump off the tank to retrieve the cork when he fires. I couldn't resist the wind-up key on the back which represents the stepper motors on his router instead of the more modern servo ones in use these days (on MultiCams) .
The base is kinda space age in design reminding us that we are, after all, 'fighting' a high tech war with our machines. But there's plenty of handwork and imagination in the piece too which reminds us its not at all really about our respsective machines at all, but rather the creative designs we feed into them that count.
Boy am I going to pay for this in Yarrow...

Dennis- downunder, we know of frenchmen as frogs, because they're known to eat frogs' legs- I guess the analogy is the same up over?
Nice, Dan!

The way I see it, someone should put that cork in Dan' creative juices bottle. But the pent up juice pressure would probably only make the cork blow all the way to Aussie Land. Any way, Dan keep it coming. How many hours a night do you lay awake trying to figure all these things out? Sure would like to be a fly on the wall at one of your meets. Peace, Don
