Customer: ' I would like to order a cake for a going away party this week.'

Walmart Employee: 'What do you want on the cake?'

Customer: 'Best Wishes Suzanne' and underneath that 'We will miss you'.

Fess up time. Years ago I was painting a series of show cards and going off his hand written notes. One of them had, another one of these, referring to doing something the same way. In a nice script I put 'another one of these' on of the cards.

I caught it just as I was handing it to him and before he could see it I said this one isn't yours, it's for another job. Major duh!

I had a customer that brought in a hand-drawn sketch and wanted it "Exactly like this". I asked him "Exactly like this?" He affirmed again that he wanted it "exactly like this". I scanned it, digitally printed it and mounted it to some coro. I also made him a real one. You should have seen the look on his face when he saw the one that he ordered "exactly like this". He knew he was busted.

I laughed, then a day later...

Imagine that person who, because of their inability to speak or understand english, had to work for miniumn wage at Walmart in order to earn a living. To pay bills, to put food on the table.
Then imagine someone pointing out that their mistake was plastered all over the internet and everyone was laughing at at them.

Reminds me of a scene from the "Breakfast Club" about taping the skinny kids butt cheeks together all for a good laugh.

Imagine that having a functional brain is generally considered mandatory for someone given responsibility. Imagine that they actually thought about what they were doing before they did it. Then imagine the world can be cruel if you're stupid. I thought it was hilarious!

And the most important fact not mentioned so far is that most people are just plain stupid and we all know that stupid can't be fixed...

That said, I feel it isn't my place in life to point out others pitfalls w/malice...do you remember the day that you finally realized that 2+2 really was 4 and how stupid you must be? No big deal really, from that point on, you knew the answer...Imagine, if you will, that thought today, if someone mean had pointed out that fact back then, w/malice, so that your memory of that lesson was one of disgust, possibly even hate, aimed towards the person/s that had chosen to use ill placed humor at your expense to amuse themselves...For the moment and of course, w/no regard at all of your feelings? Sorta makes them the stupid ones doesn't it? So I guess my point is, if you can't say something nice to or about someone, don't speak at all, silence can be golden...

It's always best to be the one to "educate", than the one to critique......more rewarding too...

Well Frank,
I can't say as I feel any "malice" toward the person who decorated this cake as I don't even know their name or identity and I certainly don't wish them any misfortune. Nor do I know if it was done by an actual employee out of "stupidity" or simply as a joke. But I have, on occasion, laughed at myself and also at my wife, who emailed this to me because she too thought it was humorous.

But I can tell you, Frank, that if I knew this person, or was simply in their presence I might laugh and I might not.

#1. If I did not know them too well, I would be sensitive to their feelings and I would try not to make them feel stupid. I would not laugh.

#2. If it was someone I DID know well, but whom I KNEW had sensitive feelings, I would definitely NOT laugh.

#3. If it was my WIFE, I would get weak in the knees, helplessly drop to the floor, roll, and almost BLACK OUT from laughing so hard.....and she too would be rolling on the floor, redfaced in tears, right along with me. And she would do the same if it was me.. [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor]

But if this has offended you, Frank or anyone else, I do apologize because I do make stupid decisions with this possibly being one of them. If Steve or Barb sees fit, feel free to delete this whole post.

Man, I just think it's funny.
You guyz been takin' 'sensitivity' courses or somethin'??

If I'd done it, I could only hope the customer would be so gracious as to point it out with humor!
Something I would do if I were the customer.

By pointing out such errors (especially on special things) it neither humilates, accuses, insinuates, or sets anyone on the defensive.
Humor actually relaxes a person to know someone is able to point out the error good naturedly, willing to accept the fact that 'stuff happens' and willing to allow the error to be corrected.

Life's good, especially when it's fun.

If we are not made aware of our mistakes, how can we learn from them.
Unfortunately, it would appear that the person that made this one will be painfully aware of this mistake for a long time to come [Smile]

Wayne;

In reference to your statement..."But if this has offended you, Frank or anyone else, I do apologize because I do make stupid decisions with this possibly being one of them. If Steve or Barb sees fit, feel free to delete this whole post.", no intentional offense was intended, I just thought it a good opportunity to enlighten, I'd like to say I'm sorry, but don't feel the need, you have your version and of course, I have mine, no apologies forthcoming because of what I wrote, I stand by it as it was written, as I've come to know you on this board as a reasonable person, my reply has to be taken as it was intended, I personally don't see how it might offend anyone of character, those that are offended probably fall into first category I mentioned, therefore rendering their opinion marginal at best...don't read into my statement anything more than it's intended intent...you are a good man as far as I can tell at this point in time and feel you've misread my intentions....as Jake put so well, chill pill, just don't take a hill pill as you can see from my reply there, it's a dosey....fair enough?
