Pat and I were in Denver for the last week for a 45th High School reunion.

As we were headed to the reunion we passed this layout and had to drive back around the corner and check it out.

 -

We met the artist David Ocelotl Garcia and spent nearly a half hour with him as he proudly decribed this entire piece. Basically it is based on Aztec beliefs in life and death and depicts those beliefs with the center piece of the Mural being a female figure named "Qualeique" ( I hope David forgives my spelling here but it is pronouned Kwah-lee-cay)and everything from the left is a stylized mirrored image of everything on the right.

As you can see it promises to be very colorful and for sure it will be a beautiful piece when he's done.

David is very talented in mural art as well as sculpting (he showed us some small pieces that he did at a nearby studio facility)

The following day we came by again and took this second picture showing his progress...he figures it will be done in a week (some children from the community building its being painted on will be assisting him.) lucky them eh?

 -

you can see more of his work here. www.Ocelotlart.com and he will be posting this mural with it's full description at this site when it's done.

Pat and I have been most fortunate over the years to round a corner and make friendships like this over the years and it always makes our lives richer.

Wow! I love his work. His use of warm and cool colors together is beautiful. I can't wait to see this mural finished!
