Just wondering why theres not much interest from HDU companies to distribute in Australia? We seem to get all other types of international product ie: vinyl, paints etc. Is there any interest from other Aussie signmakers?

I presume you've seen Multipanel, Dirk- GAMart now carry it. Transportation was a bit of an issue before- in small quantities, packaging was a big issue due to damage.
It does have bubbles & caverns in places, but generally it's nice. There's a dearer Italian one, I guess quality & cost are related...
I find the bigger thicker bits of Multipanel do warp a bit in the sun, and flatten later- lamination to say perspex may be the answer...?
The Aussie sign industry isn't a big market, I'm afraid- but the building industry is.

Do you have a contact for the dearer Italian one? I'm about to test Multipanel next week. I'm hoping that since Gamart are getting the ball rolling that soon other suppliers will get on board.

Dirk, Multipanel is/was a bit under $400 for a metric 8 x 4, at 30mm, and a bit under $300 for a 25 mm sheet, and a bit under $200 for an 8mm sheet- at least that's what I've been paying, inc. GST. I used to have a 3 1/2 hour each way drive to go & get it from the Gold Coast. Basically a whole day trip down & back, so I'd combine it with some other excuse to go down that way. I don't know what GAMart will be charging, but being in Brisbane will shave a bit of time off the trip.
In the absence of anything more affordable, I like it. It does take a bit to fill the back, if you have a double-sided job to do, though, unless you select it well, or maybe laminate two thinner sheets good-side out. It all depends on the budget...! It does rout nicely, but the dust gets everywhere.
The dearer stuff- I've forgotten the name, but Gregg Parkes knows it. So do a few others on Letterville. It was mentioned here a few months ago.
(edited to add I wrote an article a few months ago, for the latest Visual Impact magazine, on Multipanel- it'll probably be out soon.)

I've got some 30mm multipanel coming which is the price you are mentioning plus $50.00 freight. I'm still interested in the Italian one if anyone does know. I know Dunacor were interested in shipping to Australia but only if we spent upwards of $15,000. Just a tad out of my budget.
