Bit of a NO BRAINER this one..just chip-strip off the old and re-paint 7 coats and gild -2 of these monster statues at the Dolphin and Anchor Hotel Chichester.
Had my mate Paul give me a hand with the Gild yesterday-55 books of leaf -9 hours and a big lunch later and we were done...

Thanks Joe- I thought you'd like the carvings!- one is stone, and I think the other is a concrete cast of the first one. ( maybe one got broken?)
When the railways came to town- these were 2 rival Hotels THE DOLPHIN- and THE ANCHOR- then they joined forces. and became the Dolphin and Anchor.

Beautiful job, Wayne. How long did the job take from start to finish...stripping, repaint, to the final gild? How do you price a job like this...or do you just 'know' from experience how long it will take?

WOW!!!!! What a great job. I don't see how you got anything done, what with that great view and all. I am totally in awe. I'm also intrigued by the staging. Was some of that permanent?

Dale- Started on monday- sunny weather here at the moment so I had them all stripped and 2 coats primer ( waterbased)- and 1 coat oil undercoat the first day.
Then a coat of something (undercoat or top yellow gloss coat) everyday until Friday.
Gild took 2 of us a whole day-plus tidy up time.
George-the scaffold (stage) is all temporary- standard practice here for reaching high and big jobs ( the whole front is being repainted- walls --windows ect- all the way round)
Russ- the yellow vests are strictly for health and safety...and they stop ya getting tomato sauce on your best letterhead shirt)
