Its a thing of beauty! There's few things as exciting in a sign shop as a shiney new MultiCam router! Seeing the pics brought back many memories of when ours fisrt arrived. The toughest part will be waiting for it to first get turned on! Then the FUN begins!
But I can hardly wait to see samples hung on those bare walls around...
Looking forward to the magic...

Thanks for sharing the joy of the moment everyone!
Glenn... I will be giving my own muse a run for his money & that will be just the beginning!
Ian, I agree things look easy in the pics. It took over 3 hours with 2 forklifts & 6 men... but it could have been a lot harder with the wrong tools or crew. (I assume you had some wrestling to do with your recent purchase)
Karyn, I know you are one of the few to have seen my shop & spoken with me of my dream to place a router in it, long before I ever wrote about that dream. I'm even more stoked by the reminder of how long I've built for this turning point.
Shane, I've heard rumors there may be a day like this in your not-too-distant future. I do hope our workshop plans fill up & you can have a better look at my set-up, while you plan steps toward the possibility of bringing in your own! (if the rumor was correct )
Duncan, whoooof! yes... most excellent!
Dan, I was looking back through this post earlier, seeing what I saw in my camera's viewfinder yesterday, through the new perspective of knowing it is up here in Letterville, being viewed by veterans who have come a long way since the most excellent day their own routers arrived... and I immediately remembered the look into the corner of the only other Multicam I've ever laid eyes on... back in Yarrow... and I immediately pictured the lived in look of my new shop, down the road a spell... when, just as you imagined... the clean new, bare walls will leap out me in full dimensional glory, festooned with an abundance of trials, errors, & acomplishments!

Today in preparation for our fourth Router Magic Workshop I milled the spoil board. As I watched it race back and forth I saw all traces of past jobs disappear...
The end result is a clean slate... ready for the next routing adventures in Yarrow...
It's not quite as exciting as a shiney new router but its still exciting just the same.

Doug we just recently updated to the latest in low tech.
Pretty much have to embrace the new technology or go the opposite way. I'll know better when I see one in action. Anyways have fun, I bet your not going to get much sleep tonight.

I saw that bench on your Blog Shane... in fact all the pictures of your shop make me want to go the opposite way, back to low tech craftsmanship, smelling spruce or pine...
...untill the smell of cordite wafts back into my consciousness from the other room & pulls me back into my chosen path.
I can only hope that "my path" gets me anywhere near where all the various paths of my many Letterville mentors have taken them.

I won't get to see it this year. Alaska Air could get us to Hawaii, they just couldn't get us home, not until at least October. Being stuck in Hawaii isn't too bad, but I don't think I could swing that long a stay. Sophie and I had to "settle" for another Alaska trip. Oh well.

I have never owned or operated one, but I did stand next to a router table once. so, if you want to fly me down there, I would be more than happy to help you figure it out.
Congrats man, with that much thought and planning, combined with your design skills, I know there will be some beautiful pieces coming off that thing in no time.

lots of pesky details still standing between me & the big training days next weeks, and that will probably make to day a little stressful like yesterday if combined with untimely occurances like my 6 year old modem failing into intermittant malfunction mode... & taking 2 hours to track down before finally replacing it & being able to send promised emails to multiple clients...
...but like I always remind myself, "that's why they call it work" and I still know I am more fortunant than the majority of people working for a living, because I enjoy my work every day... even if not on every task some days.
Anyway, before I head back into the fray, closing up the remaining holes in my system, to prepare for the big day of flipping the switch... it's great to pop back in here & read more friendly & encouraging comments.
Thanks again everyone, for reading my post & wishing me luck. My mind has been so focused on the infrastructure around the router table, it will be refreshing to soon focus on the table & get started working this bad boy!
Oh yeah, Don... please do come and help out! It will be great to see you again. I don't have a plane ticket for you, but I found several American Airlines half price drink coupons if that will help
