I have a request for a 6" diameter round "peeled pole" with a flat copper cap over the top of it. It looks just like a 1" lid that fits down over top of the pole. Flat and smooth finish all the way around. Has anybody seen anything like this before or have a suggested source?

My first thought was that maybe it's actually a plumbing part.

See if one of these looks right > > > http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/Copper_Cap.html

Bingo! This is an exact match. I hope I don't have to send all the way to China to get them though (although I guess we all do that in some form or fashion everyday) I haven't tried searching for them in this arena yet, are they something that is widely used in plumbing? I've never seen them before, but of course, I haven't ever looked.

I don't know much about copper caps, but . . . I do recall watching an episode of Johnny Carson with Jack Webb doing a skit about "Claud Cooper's Copper Clapper Caper". . . very amusing.

I just made several copper caps of different sizes, some round, some oval.
Pretty basic metal work. Might be faster than chasing them down.

Thanks for all of the replies! I have more choices than I thought. I've put a bid to my customer and will wait for his next move.
Steve, I will put you in my contacts just in case.

Thanks!
