Danny Baronian sent me this video of this little router in operation... no more than a very fancy toy really... but it shows just what is possible these days.
I suppose if you had a really heavy substrate you could walk the router over to it instead of wrestling it onto the table...
While it was interesting to watch I believe I'll continue to be content with my MultiCam in Yarrow...

Ahhhhh, so we've come full circle now, have we? Robots are now building humans. That thing looks like it would hide in the rafters of your building and come down at night and perform a lobotomy on you.

I was thinking the same thing as Dave Sherby about the feet, but then I saw another video using that same robot kit, but without the CNC head, outfitted with force feedback on the legs. Combine the two and you have a CNC spiderbot that can compensate for its feet sliding around, on the fly.
Or make the robot weigh 3 tons then it won't slide around at all.
Self-replicating robots... hmmmm....
Runaway... was that the movie with the little robot spiders that injected their prey with something? That's about all I remember but I was young at the time.

Here is the home page for the fellow who designed that. Mat Denton's Robots He does some pretty interesting stuff in the Movie world including Harry Potter. Well worth digging a litle deeper.
