We made knock-off copies of the local Civic Rose Award and gave them to undeserving gardener frindes about the same time as the real ones were about to be awarded. What a hoot when really keen gardeners found out about them.
How many times a week do you check in at Lettervile?

Michigan's economy has taken a major hit. Stores are closing in town or downsizing to smaller storefronts. At this point I would be satisfied with holding steady.

No charge for that here, I use onsite installation as a selling point, (within a reasonable radius). Since I work from home, I view onsite installation as a plus for me. Mobile service is my favorite. Gets me out of the shop, and into the sun.
Where will you vacation this summer?

A bright yellow 1973 Ford Pinto station wagon! Man was I proud! I had just landed my first teaching job and I needed a car. It was what I could afford, straight out of college. My boyfriend at the time convinced me I needed a standard shift which would have been great IF I had knew how to drive a standard shift...what was I thinking!!
If you could buy any totally useless "toy", what would it be?

I don't watch any TV 'reality' shows- it's an oxymoron to even call them that!
If you had enough money to retire, right now, would you still dabble in signwriting at all?

I still try to design in my head, and just use the software to create a neater version of it. However, apps are Flexi (version 5) & Corel X3, and I'm forcing myself to get better with Illy. Just starting to learn Enroute, too. Photoshop use is a daily hobby too- I love that program. Pagemaker has had 1000s of hours use, and I'm getting to use Indesign more now, but I still like the older less manipulative Pagemaker, just because I'm used to it & can get stuff done faster on it.
Question: If you don't have a digital printer (eg. versacamm, etc) would you consider trying to get one, or are you comfortable staying out of that avenue?

Not much call for it here and there's already plenty of shops out there I can refer customers to if they are stuck on digital prints. I find most will sing a different tune when offered painted or hand crafted work that'll out live the prints.

My first job was at a video rental store, and then I was a bus boy at a Morrisons Cafeteria, where I worked my way up to waiter. I did that for a couple of years. I sold mens shoes in college. And my last job was the midnight to 6 am shift at a convience store where I only lasted 4 days...er, nights. I then got a job at a trophy/sign shop doing the signs, and went on from there. That was 17 years ago.
Are you able to handle all the jobs in your shop, or do you need to sub them out? Like spray painting?

I sub out when needed (rarely, like digiprints) Those jobs I don't want to do, or can't do, I refer the client directly to another reputable shop.
