I’ve been asked to replicate pre-existing signs here at the school for our athletic teams. They are round signs about 7’ in diameter and are vinyl signs that represent our Sectional wins in both baseball and softball. They hang outside at our playing fields and the guy that did them (some are 10 years old) has moved away. Being the art teacher, and a good friend of our Athletic Director, I was asked if I would continue doing these signs.

My problem here is trying to replicate them perfectly. My only solution to this problem is asking to have one taken down from the fence so I can make a tracing of the sign, and then transferring that image on to the new sign.

Any solutions or suggestions would be of great help…

Jeff

You could take a digital photo of the sign and then recreate a new layout over the photo of the old sign.

A really accurate way of duplicating the signs is to take some application tape, squeegee it over the existing sign then rub over with charcoal. You can then scan in the rubbing or just the sections that you think you need to. Digital photo is great too, but this method will give you exact sizes etc. Both together and you can't go wrong!
