I remember being at a Corvette show a few years back, when they were first introducing the new Corvettes without the hideaway lamps. The Vette enthusiasts were not happy.
I hope they bring them back too. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if they do. There has been a huge resurgence of retro designs lately; I think that is why I like this concept so much. It looks like the old Stingrays.

The problem with the hideaway lights is they ruin the aerodynamic co-efficients when open and the mechanicals are a bugger to make the room for and keep them functioning.
However, they do look awfully cool.

Not being a modern day corvette lover, I do have to say that is one of the best designs Chevy has mustered up for the covette in the last 25 years.

Old Paint was also correct, it does look like an Opel.
New cars aren't the hot ticket as much as new engines. The electronics can alert police, government and banks if you're late on your payment.
Gimme an old car any day over the newer cept for my Scion. I got 4 at my beck and call including my 64 Signet which ran 0 to 60 in 3 seconds and 129mph in 11.06. That certainly brought a smile to your face

Gee, GM actually got one right for a change!
Reminds me of my 64 that I bought brand new. It got me to thinking about prices. I was working at a GM assembly plant and making really good money for the time $3.54 hr. Today that type of good pay relates to about $25 hr or about 7 times as much. My Corvette, a convertible, pretty well loaded with all the high perfomance gear, cost $4,300. Today, a comperable car would run around $60,000 or about 13 times as much. Sunoco 260 was .35 cents a gallon, now it's a little over $4 a gallon or 11 times as much......just an observation.

My brother was just on a forum where they are discussing the new Transformers movie. And they were talking about a scene that they are filming now, in which there will be a new concept car that wasn’t in the first movie. It would be awesome if it was this car, especially since the Corvette is like GM’s spots car flagship.
Whether or not you like or dislike the stylings of the newer Corvettes, You have to give Chevy credit on the Z06. That is was one mean car. Even the Brits at Top Gear had a hard time finding things wrong with it... and they hate all American cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tztm9dLyY4

Hideaways look nice, until one gets stuck...ask me how I know...
Although, hideaways on any car,let alone the Vettes ALWAYS look awesome. Even on our 99 TA, they clunk when they open and close. Never heard any on any model/year not clunk.
I think people forget that new models are just that...new. New ideas, new ways of doing things... They forget that OLD can ALWAYS come back and be done BETTER than the original.
That car is hot.
Paul wanted to get a Z06 before he turned 40. That is only 4 years away and I decided to look for a burgundy one. He asked what I was doing and told him. He then hijacked my car I want before I am 40. So now the heavy duty search for a Safari is on. Hopefully by next year, there will be one in the garage. So now I have to find a new car...
On our honeymoon, I wanted to get a 69 Chevelle SS, and we ended up getting a 70.
After our son was born, I wanted a Ram Air TA, had to be a 6 speed, black...found one in Ohio.
I have always wanted Nomad, but after finding a Safari at Barrett-Jackson this year, I went the Pontiac way, again.
Still, that car looks like a 60th birthday present for someone I know....
Thanks for posting, Joe.
