Just what it says. Define the word Logo without a ton of flowery explanations. One sentence.

Noun: A large piece of timber in tree-form (log) which when tripped over, causes the trippee to be heard to utter "oh" as they fall, and thus remember the occasion for a long time afterwards- frequently an indelible memory.
This sequence of events & memory has been used by marketing firms ever since, sans original log, but with a 2D visual imagery of said log or other item wanting of recognition.
The curvature of the sawn cross-section of the log led to the popular ovals, ellipses and swooshes used in 1990s log-o designs.
2. "LO-GO"
Noun: in contrast to it's obverse, "High Stop", Low-go, shortened to Lo-go is essentially the other end of the spectrum. A "High Stop" is a symbol attached upon a building or structure out of reach of vandals (high) which causes signwriters and letterheads to halt (stop) in their tracks to admire the design elements. The Lo-go is one similar element put (Low) within reach of said vandals, who rapidly modify it into some other unique format, and the depart (Go) at high speed.
The smarter vandals register catchy company names and earn good money modifying previously designed formats and elements, proving that there is actually nothing new under the sun.
(sorry Pierre, it's more that one sentence, but I had to...!)

LOGO A boon to Trademark Lawyers...(see attached Reuters Wire Story) it's all about a rip-off of the LEGO name...products being sold at LOGO parties to unsuspecting well meaning parents, only trying to give their children some fun "non-computer type toys" to play with.
btw, remember the great fooforaw back when Lincoln Logs took Licken Logs(another rip off of Tootsie Rolls!) to court and WON BIG, heavy fines, etc. it's a crazy world, eh!
