I just hand painted a Corvet Hood liner with the corvet logo..and It took 4 coats of paint and I was 6 hours being very careful not to spill paint on it. Does $200. sound too much ?? ( the liner already was embedded with the corvet logo in it..I just added a ribbin effect on both sides, I 'm not sure how to send a photo on here!)

$200 is a good price, you could go a little more! What type of paint did you use? Good job!

It's a CORVETTE.....w/a RIBBON........

and plastic drop cloths would protect from spillage faster than extreme caution.........

$200? I don't think I'd charge much more than that, it's about right; time taken being careful when other avenues were available, shouldn't be charged to the customer.....period, learn on your own time is the golden rule there.....

So, what's next? Don't forget to include pics for those of us that wish to express an opinion....... [Smile]

Did you set the price with the customer before painting? That's always best.
$200 isn't unreasonable at all.
Will the heat from the engine effect the paint?
Love....Jill

First of all and most important...I'm soooooo sorry I spelled "Corvette" wrong on my post three times...shame on me ...Magoo...whip me with a wet noodle !!! Yes I agree with you about how to charge for my time (being careful not to splash paint ,like we sometimes notice on a truck and we wipe it off with our finger-you know what I mean Magoo..), but this being the first one that I've done, I was nervous ! I didn't want to charge an hourly fee , that's why I wanted you "special people" to tell me if I was short changing myself. I'll send more stuff on here "Magoo" (don't be too hard on me !!)

Mr. Curtis and Jillbeans...I used 1-Shot paint...I thought about the heat of the engine too Jillbeans, a person could use automotive paint too I guess, but Im used to lettering with the 1-shot, so that was my first choice.

The customer just wanted it done !! Period !! Asked me on a Wednesday nite to have it back by Friday ....(didn't matter what I already had booked for my week!) She was going for a long drive with her other "Corvette" friends and just had to have it done for the "ride"-didn't ask a price-and I didn't give her one.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer me!

Somehow, that got to be the "in thing" to do around here and in the past few years I've done four. The liner was removed and I did it on my easel - used acrylics (no ribbon). I charged the same thing - $200.
