I dunno whether to chock this one up to fate or just add it to my list of goofy circumstances.
Early this afternoon, I had the pleasure of taking the Mustang to the local dealership for a recall repair. I don't drive it much more than to the car wash for the wife, so unlike my pickup, most people don't connect me with it and I get to go "incognito" once in a while.
Ten minutes after the mechanic pulled it into the shop, the phone ran at the parts desk....it was for me?
It turned out to be a race car driver I haven't worked with for several years. Of course, he needs a lettering job by next weekend for the season opener. (No, racers don't wait 'til the last minute, do they, huh?) Still a little perplexed, I told him if he brings it tom the shop Sunday, I can sneak it in, then asked how the heck he knew I was at the dealership?
Seems he called someone in town that he figured might know my whereabouts...Donnie, the mechanic who was fixing the Mustang while we were on the phone. If he'd called ANYONE ELSE in town, he'd have never found me today.
Proving once more that you can run, but you can't hide...not even in a different car...a week before the car show.
Seems to be my perverse destiny... Rapid

Man that's scary. Jake told me he has a similar situation that happens to him all the time. He can be anywhere, the hardware store, the paint store, the strip club, the gay bar, or wherever, and his wife can call him on his cell phone and it rings regardless of where he is! He doesn't know how the heck she does it or how she knows where to call him each time.
