Last night Toowoomba won the "Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy townof the Year" for 2008 against 800 other entries nationwide!
Criteria was judged on overall presentation and pride, enviromental initiative, litter and waste managament, working relationship between council, businesses and the community, heritage and cutural preservation.
We also won the Enviromental Innovation Award and won the Water Conservation Prize.
"Go Toowoomba" !!!!! Commonly known as "The Garden City"
Population around 100,000. Recently we were almalgamated into one big shire (County) of over 130,000 sq.km. (50,000 sq miles!!!) or about twice the size of Ireland.!
Other than Ian and myself there's only a few who still sling paint with any accuracy. The majority of us are "Letterheads" or have at least attended a meet.
Yellow pages for the whole area lists less than two dozen sign shops! Most are vinyl/print jockeys of course, but so far we have not got any "Quickie Sticky" shops that have lasted more than a few months.
