Lat and I sit across from each other, two tables between us. I have the newest Omega and Artpath for the CNC, but I know nothing about Artpath. Latigo runs it. My system communicates with his through a file sharing program, but I know nothing whatsoever about any software other than my own. Latigo has Flexi, Signlab, Adobe Illustrator, Scanvec Amiable and Photoprint in his computer. I know nothing about any of them other than his computer is a son-in-law custom built hellacious huge thing that I never touch. Can someone tell me what VMP is?

I have a demo cd I received in the post years ago, and it looks impressive, affordable and useful.
I would have bought it, probably, except I'd just bought Corel 7.625 (or whatever number it was) & Signtools 2 at the time, for about the same total cost!

My first plotter was a 4B just sold it a month ago, Still using a super sprint, Omega and the Edge which have paid for themselves many times over.
Signlab is an awesome program as well and Corel is what I started with. All great programs and as you tell by the responses it's not the tool that you use, it's what you do with it.
I've seen talented artists make works of art with spray cans, and others make a mess with the best airbrush.

I ditched Signlab when it wouldn't Rip.They may have fixed that since 5.. don't know. Course that was to my PC600 which I ditched too. Been happy with Flexi ever since. Go figure.... technology...Oh yeah, I like my tools.

Sometimes using your tool inappropriately can get you into trouble though Glenn. They can break and become unusable....or cause irreparable damage to the substrate they're being used on, or vice versa.
Misusing your tools has been man's greatest cause of regret and lamentation.

Here's a woman that has a 4B, paid 3200 with five fonts about 1994. It never broke down and no, I didn't run it "everyday" all day but, it's never had any issues in all these years. I have Omega and did have the Graphix Advantage 6.2, I paid over a thou I think. Now the Omega does quite a bit too, although I never digitized on it. Everyone tells me to get Corel to design and then send it to ai. but, I'm not sure if I need both, just as things change, and the needs change too. I don't mind paying for upgrades, however, wasn't too happy about just wanting the option of drop-shadow and not being able to have it until I did the Omega upgrade. Still, it's a versatile program, and even though I desperately need a faster and larger plotter than my Gerber 4b, I know it's still reliable, even if my computer goes down, at least for 15 fonts that I have available, if that ever happens, and I'm still in business.
If it's a matter of customer tech support that is needed "before" the upgrade, I do expect some response, and some cut and dry solutions. If I need to read the fine print or know the limitations of the program, then it lies with me; if it's customer support that is supposed to be available then I would talk to that issue. To be aware of everything is the key, and when it is in advance, not while I am in the middle of a project. And, if I have to upgrade, and it is reasonable as every couple years for a couple hundred, then I'll hop on it and try to work with the customer for a day or two or stay up all night and figure out what to brace myself with the next time. It's a live and learn situation some time, and Gerber has held up under a lot of pressure.

Deb, I haven't seen anything any more solid, versatile or (mainly) quicker than Omega. If you really get into all of it's capabilities you'll be amazed at what it does that you didn't know about. Every once in a while Lat shows me an Omega function about which I had no clue. I swear some day I'm going to actually read the manual.

Forgot to say.... I can convert anything I do in Omega to a pdf, send it to file sharing and Lat can use it for the Mutoh printer, add photography to it, or use it with any of his other programs.
