This is the first time this has happened, and just wondered if someone could steer me to the help menu to correct this problem: When I opened up my Omega the background of the work area is a gray-taupe. I checked with the control panel; appearances and checked white, but it didn't change. Any clue as to what that is? Another problem is that when I drag the lettering image around the screen, a white duplicate follows. I haven't tried cutting, but am starting to do that to see if that is feasible. (I changed computers earlier and plugged everything in as usual but never had this problem a couple weeks ago.)

Are you in Wireframe or Filled view? In wireframe my work area is white but when I go to filled it turns gray until I drag the white vinyl icon from the bottom of the screen into the work area...then it turns white. But don't ask me why.

Ray, it's both, in wireframe and filled. Hmmm... I'm cutting now, but it's difficult to deal with the white lines behind the images too. The color palettes are also the taupe/gray too in both modes. The work I do is in green; when I highlight it does give me the blue and it does cut, as I checked the F8 and made sure; it doesn't seem to affect that. I'll be back in an hour to work with this more; sorry I have to leave. Thanks, Raymond:) Raymond, I do need something else too, if you don't mind. I want to cut an outline with a drop shadow combined. My options are outline or drop, but, I would like it to be one piece. Do I have to kern or meld it? Is there an easier way to have it in one feature by manipulation?

Outline the letter. Then shade the original letter, not the outline, or the outline if you want it larger. Then AB combine the outline & the shadow. Should take about 5 seconds.
Lots of years of doing that...I haven't found a speedier way...

Thanks, Nikki! now it's 12:30 CST so I'm wondering if anyone is awake? I reaaaaaly need to know what to do about all the grayed out areas on my Omega work area. The colors palettes and everything on the back of the work area is all dark gray. I've skimmed through the entire help menu and options and tried several things but can't see what it is; maybe something simple. Just don't want to reinstall right now, am in the middle of something. any clues? any takers?

Do you have any other problems on this computer? Do you have any spyware removal software? I'm thinking there are problems on this computer that might not be program specific.

Hi Bob, For some reason, the second time I turned the computer off and back on, it resolved itself. I'm running my virus and spyware programs now; that didn't seem to be the problem either as I've gone through a lot of my computer with a fine-tooth comb (at least as much as I am knowledgable )but I'm very happy it's behaving just fine now. Thanks again to you Bob, Nikki, and Raymond.

Deb...to do your shadow on the outline...it's very simple, create an outline, select the outline and create a composite shadow not a partial shadow, then either: 1) Do what Nikki said about combining or... 2) Turn the cut line off on the outline or... 3) Just delete the outline if you don't need that anymore and you only want the outline and shadow combined.

Taking a day off till I get the digital cartoon on; it's brown and black and white. I'll email you since I'm not a poster.

Thank you...I suppose I should follow proper proticol and introduce myself, but I've been reading posts here so long, I forget that I've never posted anything myself, and I know many people already so it didn't seem unnatural to chime in. Well, I don't wish to distract from your thread so...thanks and good luck with your Omega project!
