Some time back, I found myself between the proverbial rock and a hard spot, results of auto accident and the wonderful way insurance companies in this country today treat those in need, suffice to say, it's almost been a year and they haven't made move one towards settling my claims, let alone fix damage done to my ride, which is totaled in their eyes...in the meantime, I've had to deal w/bills and no job, fun huh?

To ease my load, a couple I've been friends with for over 40 years, took me under their wing and have provided food and shelter for Scotty and I since, making our life more comfortable than the desert, inside of the totalled Suburban, which at one point was our address, one has to do what one has to do to survive, it wasn't my choice, just only option, but family here ended that and paved way to some semblance of order for us...

These ppl. and I have lots in common, our love of animals being one of those commonalities...hence Scotty was accepted as readily as I was, even though it burdened their already full animal populace...

Last Wed., while at park running Scotty,I came across a group of students and teachers from school adjacent to park, concerned over a little white female puppie, hanging around school fence...on request of one teacher, I lifted her to hand over fence and the principle of school declined idea, saying it is against state law for a dog or any animal to set foot upon school property, refusing to allow her aboard school property, effectively cancelling out any ideas of students to care for puppie till animal control could pick her up...principle even suggested I keep her as she looked comfortable in my arms...which I had to agree with, the little thing looked up at me w/her dark eyes and shiny white coat and I immediately knew what had to be done....

I called the house and informed Sanda (wife) about situation and told her I was on my way to shelter/vet to find her a home....she insisted I bring her home, which I did....she's been here ever since...taking over...both cats and house dog love her, and Scotty tolerates her, so far, a good thing.....we went out and put up found posters almost everywhere, so far, no responses...

Today, we decided to bath her, Scotty and Ewee, the house dog...everything went perfect until we rolled her over to bath her belly and discovered nipples, large nipples!!! Seems our little lost lady is pregnant!!! Changes everything completely...we're going to prep for puppies, seems our new puppy isn't as naive as she put on, heheheh...the real reason she's homeless is apparent now I believe...shame, shame on someone...

My whole point is to point out some good ppl. that aren't bothered w/trivulations of life and have opened up their hearts to a small little puppy w/problems in need...thanks to them, she won't have any problems anymore on that level, she now has a good home and her pups will be taken care of until such time they're old enough to be weined and put up for adoption by us...I had to let this out as it was building up inside of me and needed to be said, that said, I feel better now....thank you for your indulgence... [Smile]

I don't even know what to say, Frank. I am so glad that you have those kind of friends that will take you and your buddy in. I wish tha tI had some good advice to help motivate the insurance company, but I don't. Take care. Is there anything that we at letterville can help you with?

If I now have a 4th pup, I'm going to need to see a photo of her. It'll make it easier to explain to her brothers in PA that they now have a sister. [Big Grin]

As for my thoughts concerning whoever abandonded her, well if I go down that road, there's a good chance I'm going to have to pick up pieces of something getting broken. I just have to believe that karma will take care of them and wish that I had a fast-forward button for karma.

Frank, you've always had a soft spot for the dogs! They are the ones we can always count on no matter what. We had to put down your old pal Coty a few months back (hip displatia, near blind, etc.). We had him euthanized at home...hard to say goodbye...

Thanks all:

I appreciate feedback and agree w/those that admonish previous owners, especially Deri's( [Rolling On The Floor] )

And to quash any rumors of my softness, I confess, somethings in life deserve a soft touch...

Dale, so sorry to hear of Coty's demise, he and I had a "special" bond (he loved to threaten me and I stayed out of reach-heheh)...story about that night still brings laughter from those present and there was a ton of us....it seems in a house full of guests at Dales one year, Coty took a dislike to my beard, he slept no further than three feet from me all nite, I'd move, he'd sound off, effectively waking entire house, including the infamous trip at 3am to bathroom, lol....loved that dog, he and Scotty were fast friends, played non-stop whenever we were there, which was alot for awhile there...every Hot August Nights we played this little game....lol

Thanks Cat, I indeed feel exceptionally grateful for these fine folks, w/o them, I'd be homeless...as would Scotty, me I could handle it, but to inflict that lifestyle upon my little buddie wasn't flying all that well w/me at the time.....

I'd prefer to remain reclusive to the world, but find it hard to practice that theory and enjoy the warmth felt here, so as requested my address follows: Magoo @ 4309 Ira St., Las Vegas, Nv. 89130.......thanks Irish...

In leaving tonite, I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all and inform you that w/o you, life wouldn't mean much, though my canine friends and I will always perservere, it's easier to know one has those that truely care and offer up assistance w/o thoughts of what's in it for them, unselfishness is one word that comes to mind...some have already shown this to be true and to them I'm deeply grateful.... [Cool]

Hi Frank,
Been following the news; it just seems that every thing has it's season. You've mastered turning those li mons` into some mighty fine lemonade!
You know it's cold here, but come on over; you always have a place to stay; I need some advice on setting up a shop in a small area, then I need a good kick in the rear to get painting again; some inspiration too.
It's mighty simple living here, just have to get those sweaters on Scotty this time of year.
all the best to you and your best friends,
Deb Fowler

Pete did you mean spayed or sprayed? Frank, as one who was homeless for a couple years, I know how hard it is to have any self-esteem without a place to hang your hat. The sofa circuit isn't just a song by Jimmy Vaughn.Don't let it kill your spirit as tomorrow is a new day. Looks like you have a wonderful extended family here. Take care bro.

What a day!!! Sat. started w/me and my student leaving Vegas to attend a pinstripers Xmas party in So.Cal. known as Brush Off...upon returning at 3am Sunday morning, I was greeted shortly there afterwards w/the birth of five puppies, Baby as the new dog has become to be known by, birthed them until 6am...two black, two white and one brown and white, suggesting papa may have been a Jack Russell.....spotted pup has a little oval blaze, perfectly located in between their eyes, w/brown spots around both eyes, cute as all get out...(awwwwwwwwwwwww)lol

I won't go into specifics of what followed as anyone that's been thru it knows, it's just better left unsaid, suffice it to say, it's a lot of work, but mama and pups are comfortable and apparently healthy......rest of animals here are acting like typical "aunts/uncles", chore in it's self keeping them all at bay, lol......

As soon as possible, I'll somehow get some photos up so y'all can see these lil' cuties....

(LOL, to steal one of grandpa Dan's favorite lines,) "Raising cain in Vegas".......now, to bed...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
