I have bitten the bullet and committed to coming to a US meet. A few of us here in NZ and Australia have decided to attend a meet in Wisconsin at the end of July next year. Can anyone give me any info? We shall probably fly into LA for a few days to get over the jetlag first and I am wondering what flights we should be looking at, who has the best rates, if there are any activities or tours people would recommend, that kind of thing.
Cheers

That is fantabulous news!!! I'm hoping to be back for both meets next summer if I can get that much time off. You should talk Elvis into coming back for a visit!
There is a Walldog Meet the weekend before the Hudson Meet taking place in Minneapolis, MN...just down the road from the Hudson Meet...If you can spare the time you should come into Minneapolis a week early and help us paint some walls!
I grew up about an hour east of where the meet is taking place. Gladly be a tour guide if you need one. If I can help you at all drop me a line, I have a lot of friends in the Minneapolis, MN area.
take care for now...looking forward to meeting you!

You have to fly in to Minneapolis/Saint Paul in Minnesota. The meet is about 35 miles from the airport in Hudson Wisconsin. Mpls. in Northwest Airlines main hub, but all the major airlines fly to Mpls/St Paul as it is a major airport in the midwest. I've had some good luck with using expedia.com, but my brother in law has gotten the same or lower prices by contacting the airlines directly.

Anne...when booking your flight if you fly with Qantas I would talk to them about other flights inside the US I think they have parterships with other airlines and they can probably get you a good deal.

Glad to see you'll be coming to the great Midwest, also known as the flyover states. As Dale said, consider coming in a week early for our Walldog meet here in the city of Minneapolis just down the road from Hudson.
We've got lots of events planned, host homes for everyone and all the draws of a world class city. Consider it a teaser to the big meet in Hudson. And Dale will drive you all over. Just ask Rod Tickle.

This is great - I won't be the only one there who talks funny. Don't forget to pack your suitcase full of Cherry Ripes. (you can leave the vegemite at home, though)

I'm planning on coming to the meet, if you'll have me. Catching up with old friends and making new ones.

Don't touch vegemite - prefer NZ marmite!! I am seriously considering doing the walldog meet too. It sounds like a lot of fun! Will have to look at booking the main flight to LA in the new year. How long should I leave it before booking the internal flights?

Anne, book your International as soon as possible, especially for that time of year. We found good flights were booked out six months in advance.
Air New Zealand has good deals to LA. If they can't do you a cheap internal package the best way is to book them yourself.
Fly in and out of Long Beach and not LAX on the internals. It's far easier, quicker and a LOT CHEAPER!
We found some Internal Airlines in USA/Canada would not let us book from overseas. I'm sure somebody "up-over" will you this for you and then you can transfer the payment to them.
