Trying to set up my Graphtec FC3100-60 plotter on a different computer running Windows XP..it ran problem free on the now deceased computer running Windows 98. I downloaded a new driver and have communication, but it stops cutting prematurely. I'm cutting fron Signlab ver.5 Can anyone help?

This may not be your problem, but does your version of signlab have a usb dongle? If so, you might need a new hasp driver for xp.

I'm running it through the parallel port. I really don't think Signlab is the problem, as I had a Roland plotter hooked to the same system and had no problems..I like the cutting quality of the Graphtec, I can cut much smaller letters and graphics and it is capable of cutting my sandblast film. I suspect that I haven't got the internal settings of the Graphtec set up properly..but frankly don't know for sure.

I imagine you are connected via serial port.
Get to Device Manager somehow.
Start-> Control Panel->System-> Device Manager->Ports(com & Lpt)

Double click on the port you are using.
Go to the Port Settings Tab.
Change the FLOW CONTROL from NONE to either Harware or Xon/Xoff

For some reason, starting with Windows 2000, Microsoft defaults the flow control to None.
Plotter cant tell the computer to Stop sending data when its buffer is full.

hope this helps.

Opps, missed where you said it was on the paralell
port. (or wait a minute, graphtecs dont have parralel ports do they?) Are you sure its not hooked up via serial port?
