Is this a rumor or does smooth surface coroplast exist? I can't remember where or who I heard it from, but if it is a reality, where do you get it? Has anyone heard of it or was this just a bad dream?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Sign-cerely, Steve

Hi Steve. What you might be referring to is the material that has a coroplast core, but is faced with a baked-on aluminum skin, similar to Dibond. It's coroplast, but the additional aluminum skin is a bit of an "upgrade" in both appearance and price.

very slippery term. Talk to your plastics supplier and ask about corex for flatbed printing. Denco has some premium as do most of the suppliers. Just have to "hands on" tryout their version of smoother stock. You'll quickly learn what you've been paying for corex no longer applies.

Steve, There is a coro product being marketed as smooth faced. I don't remember who's making or selling it however. A consistent product would be nice, especially for us screenprinters. We've had some sheets lately that almost had grooves in them and there is no way that you can get ink into these crevasses.

I just got in this morning early and of course the letterheads pulled through once again. What a great place to find answers to questions regarding our chosen profession.
Hats off to Laura Butler and Brian Snyder. I guess we all need to check out this new coroplast. It looks like a 4'x8' sheet of white is $13.70. I don't know if their is a minimum order. (probably for shipping purposes)
We use Alumicorr sometimes (pricey) and DiBond or polymetal more often. They also make a foamboard with a polystyrene sheet on both sides, but if you drop it or hit it against anything (by accident!) the corners break off or chip. Makes a great interior poster sign and cuts nice for shaped letters. Just thought I'd mention a few products that I like to use.
Thanks again for all the advice. Now to find a supplier closer to St. Louis....
Sign-cerely, Steve

Thanks again Brian. I might be a new customer. I know I can use smooth coroplast for many things other than 18x24 yard signs. We just printed a black and white photo of the world's tallest man, Robert Wadlow who was from Alton, Illinois which is our neighboring town. We are mounting him on ½" black foamboard (in two pieces for transport since he is 8' 11" tall!). I think the smooth coroplast would work well for this kind of project in the future. Most other standup won't be this tall.

Here's another interesting smooth coroplast type product. The local Menards carries a board called Duraboard. It's a 4' x 8' corrugated plastic with one side that has a smooth sintra type layer attached. It is sold as a wall board for basements, etc. but it is UV durable and costs $30. I used it for a "temporary" site sign over a year ago and it still looks great.
