I posted this earlier and it didn't come up so here it is again ...sorry if two posts show up.
Ever try gluing Signfoam letters down with Gorilla Glue just to have an oozing mess on your hands?
Try this ...mask your substrate with Tranferite then place your letter down in the exact position want to mount it... then trace around the letter (acurately)... cut the letter out of the mask with an x-acto and remove the cut mask.
Apply Gorilla Glue (liberally)down the center of the letter area then spread the glue by pulling a serated plastic (2" broad blade) across the line of glue and spead it thin.
Then spray the back side of the foam letter with water and accurately place it back in the the cut out mask area ( you might want to weight it down or screw it from the back for pressure).
Any oozing you might encounter will go on top of the mask...when it sets up cut gently around the letter thru the oozed out glue then simply remove the mask from around the letter.
You will have little or no touch up depending on how good you are with an x-acto.
I've done this many times and I love it.
I suggest you try it on a "mock up" and see if you aren't convinced at how well this works.
I've also done this with Silicone Tightbond and other adhesives.
Let me know what you think of it and include any methods you've used ...I might like your method too!

Same process, Monte, but I use vinyl paint mask in place of the transfer tape. Cut through the plotter, it gives me the letters AND the positioning in one step.

Great tip. I like the pre-positioning aspect of the stencil too.
