I sure miss his smile, his jokes, his joy of life. Your dad was a true inspiration to many, many people Paul. You're one lucky guy to have had a dad like John Jordan.

Paul..Like Rene, I also have Kelly's painting hanging proudly. He was a great guy and, unfortunately, I didn't realise I was in such company when we drove from the airport to the first Maritime meet.

I met John first time at the Letterheads in Greece, he was a great guy, a real laugh to be around, and a really special person, when it came to helping with his gold workshops.
I met him again a year later in Scotland, and it just felt like we picked up from where we left off, he took a shine to Åsa, he did to most women
I really miss him too....took it for granted that we would have seen him this year too...

I only had the pleasure of meeting Jordo once, but I'll never forget his enthusiasm.
It was blind luck that we happened to share the same easel at French-Kiss-A-Brush, and within minutes of introducing ourselves, John and I were comparing our brushes, chatting about how we stored them and throwing around ideas for panels. As the weekend progressed, John's wit and charm was always at the forefront as he produced some absolutely gorgeous work. All weekend long, people were asking John questions about processes and techniques. It only widened his smile whenever he could jaunt across the room and share his knowledge. If ever I have met someone who brought the sharing nature of Letterheads with him, it was John.
When I decided to make my first ever attempt at gold leafing, John, Si, Bill Riedel, Bob Timmerman and several other Letterheads were right there at my side. I was terrified of screwing up in front of them, but at the same time thankful for all the knowledge I gained just from their conversation along the way.
Jordo had a heart worth more than all the gold he ever worked with. Rapid

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. john in Cincinnati last summer. What an honor it was to hang out with him that weekend. A true class act. My girls loved listening to him talk. When I told them of his passing, they were sincerely sad. I didn't realize until then how much of an impact he had made on them.

As every one else I miss the old goat I first met him in 97 here in the uk and then every year after that, he became a good and close friend especialy as he always got me out of dancing at meets by becoming my wifes dance partner. That photograph of Henry's shows the four of us on a boat on the Corinth Canal in Greece. As we say here in England when on holiday "wish you were here"

I first met your dad at Jills Mars Meet. It was like we were instant old friends. (I'm sure he affected others the same way) We didn't chat for very long before other obligations seperated us. We didn't get together again at the meet and I left with the feeling that this man was surely someone special and hoped that I would get another chance.
We met the next year at FKAB and our friendship grew. Near the end of the meet, I asked him to "sign" a small HDU panel which I had done a funky pearl paint job on. He painted "Aussie John" in a nice script. My plan was to carve and gild it as a gift to him. Alas, it ended up in my "to do" pile for quite awhile.
We met again in Mocton where he and Bill Ridel were still talking about how many windows there were to paint in that FKAB logo.... I had started playing with a different fast gild system which I bounced off of him and he gave me confidence to continue with it.
The next winter I got around to carving that panel he autographed and sent it to him. (He was really inpressed with all the stamps that our postmaster had plastered all over the package... lol) He in turn made a small glass panel for me......I was floored! Thing was....I had to meet him at a meet to get it. (I think it was his way of getting me off my dead a$$ and to a meet) So we met again in Cinci. Wow, what a beautiful piece!!! There is a nice photo of us on the past meets page......like it was yesterday. When I heard of his passing, I felt a great loss.... as did many others. I feel so fortunate to have recieved such a wonderfull gift from him and the panel is something special too .
He is missed but not forgotten.
Thanks for this post and for showing us the wonderfull tribute piece that you made.
God Bless,
Joe

Hi Paul, It was such a pleasure meeting you at Ian's meet. The resemblance is uncanny, of course, I really know there's so much of him in you; although I never got the pleasure of meeting John and seeing him work, it was as though he was there also. You told me you have the painting Kelly did in your office and every day you go past it and acknowledge him as the first thing you do. I've been following the meets from all the pics all have posted, including the ones from Greece and the Dixie meets.

We first met in England and so many times since. He invited me to stay at his place if ever I could make the trip. What a pleasure to have known him, all his knowledge and humor made him very special. Being only two years older, we had much in common. Bill

I met John in Mazeppa at Mike's Muster. We played golf together at the little Letterhead scramble. I'll tell you, if John wasn't masterpieces in gold, he could have been a pro caddy. Man could he read a green.
His inspiration made me fall in love with gold leaf. It took a while, but I just produced my first gold leaf sign a bit ago, and took a gold on glass seminar with Noel Webber.
Thank you John for leading me to the gold.

One year already. I am so sorry for that empty spot you must be feeling, Paul.
He sure was a neat little guy, & I am so glad I got to meet him at the Zoo! He showed me how to blend my One Shot with linseed oil, & I am glad I kept that panel!
What a blessing to have gotten to meet him.

It sure doesn't seem like a year has gone by. I first met John in England in 2000 at"The Ole Bull & Brush" meet. Even danced with him at that meet. The last day of the meet in Scotland last year,I had breakfast with him. I also have Kelly's painting but have not gotten it framed and on the wall yet, but I have many fond memories.John Jordan was a great letterhead who shared so much with alot of us...his friendship, talents, and skills.
