My 24" Graphtec plotter doesn't currently have one and I have always thought that would be the way to go .. I never liked the idea of my material touching the concrete floor. But at $475 it seems like alot for what appears to be a couple steel rods with some fabric over it..Do you use one? Did you improvise? This may be a dumb topic but I had to ask.. thanks

One of my emoloyees improvised with an old plotter. He took a old piece of 3 mil sintra and bent it into the shape of a "J" and we would set it on the floor. As long as the media we were cutting wasn't 8 ft long, it would come down and hit that and curl into a roll.
It worked OK.

We have a factory basket from Graphtec. It works well, but if your space is confined, you'll be whacking into those support rods on a regular basis.

I like to use a plastic storage container. Then when I'm not using it, I can put the lid on it to keep any dust from accumulating in it & slide it out of the way.

We have one on our machine and I love it, Keeps the vinyl away from my feet. I do agree that you will be running into the support rod a lot, but you get use to it.
Spending the money on one is tough though.

I have them on all of the plotters that I use. and specifically a 24" Graphtec I would not work without them. I have also in the past set up on a counter and had the vinyl drop down into a hole in the counter, I still use this method with my edge and plotter. One drop on each side of each piece,printer and plotter, allows for large runs and no dirt or bung ups. It is worth the investment or improvise to make a self made version, saves alot of cleaning up of vinyl. Perhaps make Room for your machine so you don't run into it. Peewee, the basket is used when your eating crunchy tacos while cutting vinyl. It catches the totilla chips. I haven't used the one my Summa came with. But I keep my sweep my floors alot.

I made a "sling" from a piece of left over naugahyde. Sewed dowels into both ends. I clamp two sticks to the cutter stand and hang the sling on the sticks. It's long enough that it drapes over the cross member of the stand so I have a catcher on both sides. Rolls up when not in use.

Thanks people! as if my life wasn't hard enough... now I must have the wheels in my head turnin' with all the great ideas! one thing's fer sure I will keep my $400 bucks make my own! Now where's those Tacos??? LOL!
