I have an opportunity to purchase a small gerber router. the table on it is 27" x 48", and includes the computer with artpath software.

I know it works, the only thing that is wrong with it is when you hit the button to start the job, the relay that turns the router on and off doesn't work, so I have to turn it on manually.

No. It has the slats and you must clamp your material down.

Hi Mark,

What sort of work do you want to do with it?

I looked at a Dimension 200 a few years ago, secondhand and then a Gerber Sabre 404 secondhand, but ended up buying a new 10ft x 5ft AXYZ and am only a small shop but have never regretted buying a bigger table, and timewise a vacuum table is something I wouldn't want to be without.

But we're all different and use our routers for different uses, today ours is getting aluminium for pushthrough letters on lightboxes we've built recently, The signs are 6m (20ft) long even in sections with 10ft aluminium sheets we are happy to be able to use the full size of the table

Sounds like the older Gerber AR600 "short version" which will only do 2D type jobs. No 2.5 or 3D work. Also, there is no or minimal support for the router itself. Hardware is very out dated and parts are very hard to come by.

I don't think its a D200 based on your mentioned size.

I'd advise you to read closely what Tony Teveris wrote in his response. I've encountered his posts in several forums and the majority of individuals have expressed a lot of respect and statements to support his credibility on most issues about Gerber equipment. I almost purchased a very old but otherwise solid router at an affordable price (amazing how this stuff holds it value). The technology was, however way too old and the limitations as well as the lack of tech support and parts made it a poor decision. I kept looking and got a good deal on a sabre 404 and never regretted it. Vacuum table is an option, although it really should be a standard feature because it is so important. Gerber is an interesting Company...they have always had a lot going for them ...but they seem to run in a cycle of gaining good will then becoming arrogant and lose their market share...then make a comeback...then drop again??? If they ever get a real strong leader who recognizes their potential in the sign industry and commits to long term relationships with the end user...they could be the Top Dog again.
