When a customer gives us art, lets say to make a poster. We import it into Flexi and size it to a 28" x 22" image. Now how do we show them what the image will look like at full size. An associate was showing me something on his computer for vehicle graphics and hit a button and a section of the image appeared on the screen at 100% size.

Is there a function on Flexi Sign Pro that does this?

Curtis, sorry I don't get your answer. I've looked real close at the various menu items in the flexi page (window) and am not seeing the control to view at 100% (full screen view)

Been using Flexi since Version 5.8...and still only know a fraction of it's capabilities.

TL,

You can hold down Ctrl. and use the - or + to zoom in and out. The same as PhotoShop.

Thanks...I guess I'm not expressing my question clearly. I know how to zoom in and out. An associate was showing me the art he developed for a van graphic. It is a bitmap (raster image). I told him the art had to be a high enough resolution to be acceptable at full size.Since he had created the image at full scale size, he was able to show me the image in real size on the screen with the push of a button.

Ok, Lets try again

You can go to Design Central and create what ever viewing size you desire. Lets say your image is 40' wide and 20' tall. Put that info in Design Central and import your image.

I think it has a limit of 500'. A click on the ruler bar, and you can change from inches to feet.

Or

Select the Bitmap: "Controll A" and reduce it down to what ever size you want in Design Central.

Tony,
If I understand your question, your looking for an "actual pixel size" viewing feature for a portion of an image in Flexi? I'm limited to version 7.5 but it appears it doesn't exist as a stand alone command. Photoshop has a "actual pixel view" your associate may be using.
I'd recommend preflighting instead of previewing as it returns more accurate production information on whether you can or should print the file. Easy setup for your application with Acrobat or any of the preflight plug in or stand alone programs.
Hope that helps some if I got the question right?

Ron, Can you provide the details of how to view an actual pixel view in PS? I see how I can view actual pixels, but how do I know that it's what we'll see on the print?

I'm not sure how to view "actual pixels" in Flexi, but we always print samples. Screens can be deceiving. We would crop a sample of the picture in question, then print it at 100%. Customer's often don't understand that an image on a moniter can be viewed crisply at 72dpi, but 300dpi is often desired for printing.

While we are on the subject of Flexi, I have Flexi 8 and a Roland Engraver. I want to engrave nametags but Flexi offers Hatch and Island fills.
When I try these on nametags the result is terrible. When I profile fill, it looks perfect.
Am I missing something?

Tony, Rick,

Sorry on the delay,

The PS actual pixel view is not entirely accurate. It is affected by the preference settings, and your monitor hardware. It is trying to show you the 100% printed pixel size. But most likely your monitor preferences are set to 72ppi. Or in simple terms, you most likely won't get 1 inch on your screen to match the real world. But for most sign type uses, it's close enough.
Viewing pixels has not been effective for us. There are far too many variables and hands on the job to allow such a wildcard to influence what should be controlled. I strongly recommend a preflight program that puts numbers in place of interpretation. But I can see the lure of customer service in providing a 100% sized sampling. We've just been unable to see profit from it.

The PS help description below touches on a couple of the inherent problems trying to use this technique to prefight bitmapped images by viewing the pixels on a monitor.

"The image is redisplayed in its approximate printed size, as specified in the Document Size area of the Image Size dialog box. The size and resolution of your monitor affect the on?screen print size."

Thanks Ron for the thoughtful and detailed response. You know exactly what I was asking about and I am going to look into a preflight software. I can get the info I need from such a program even though there are minor deviations.
