Inflation is alive and well in Alberta. Skyrocking housing and labour costs have pushed up everything. The "un-official" minimum wage is about $11.00/hr. The "official" minimum wage just went up to $8.00/hr from $7.00. No one works for minimum wage here. No end in site either. The good news is no one bickers about the cost of their signs anymore.

So let's see, we used to sell cottage signs at, lets say, 300 each when the price of that cottage was 60,000. Now that the same cottage is 160,000 that same sign should cost 800,(a 266% increase) when in reality my prices have only increase to maybe 400 for the same sign. Hmmm, gotta do some thinking now...

This is a myth. I was there. Water was delivered on a regular basis after teh first days..

Curtis, I would like to see that recording in person. let the records show that Curtis hammond is gathering information to prove what others including the media have been shown to be untrue
And lets not forget that this administration is never wrong as long as they have someone else to put the blame on.

Si, geez I didn't know that Curtis was staying at the Superdome because that would be the only way one were to know for sure how fast drinking water got there. Well at least two Letterheads are still in Nawlins to this day, Gavin the cop and Dan the humanitarian who we all know and love wg finally moved to Alabama to help there

I and Gavin was there. We know about the Nat. Guard carrying loads of bottled water to the Super Dome.
The teams I worked with know more about what went on than anyone news netwrok can possibly relate in a positive objective truethfull manner..
read for yourself.. Just five days after the storm the busses arrived to transport people when the water was down to about 3 ft deep. During those preceding days water and food was helo'd in by the load. But you didn't see CNN report that. Did we?
You didn't see the first wave of busses get turned back after breakdowns caused by water intrusion into the engines. Did we. No CNN forgot that part.
As for not getting there sooner. The water was up to rooftops. They had to pump it down. I was there operating a patrol boat.
There was relief there from state polcie on sept 2..
On Thurs they started getting transported out.
Capt. John Pollard of the Texas Air Force National Guard said 20,000 people were in the dome when the evacuation efforts began. By Thursday afternoon, the number had swelled to about 30,000. Pollard said people poured into the Superdome because they believe it's the best place to get a ride out of town.
The refugees began arriving Thursday at the Astrodome in Houston, where they got a shower, a hot meal and a cool place to sleep.

My apologies Kelly for the misunderstanding as I thought this was Letterville and the poster was a Letterhead and not from a special group. Now I find out that there are groups from different countries who expect to be treated differently, well this can be solved by deleting the number of posts one has typed as well as deleting the country they are from and the year they registered. This way we all remain Letterheads using the same mentality with the same knowledge and all on the same page. I actually registered earlier than 1999 because a name change was in order, so therefore a complete new registration.
BTW, Curtis is a friend of mine and I was in control of my replies as well as having Si Allen on the phone as I typed. Guess we can call that an American thing if it weren't for the fact, it don't mean jack because in reality we are just Letterheads from a town called Letterville and not government employees.
However Kelly, I take full responsibility for this fine political post that went south and if it offended you and your Canadian buddies, I offer my apologies and promise the next time I'm in your part of the world I'll act Canadian....................... Eh?

i would say tell me you arent this dumb but what good would it do. Curtis you know well as i do no matter what you post here it wont do any good because as long as people choose to believe the common media outlets because their spoon fed message fits their shallow political mindset and makes them feel like they are thinking for themselves instead of choosing actual facts its like ****ing into a fan you're standing over and expecting not to get hit with the back spray. As for the self aggrandizing moron joey referred to.....his punk ass left, strangely enough without trumpets playing in the backround

When we say "a conversation goes south" it's just another way to say "a conversation goes off topic". Maybe it's a Canuck saying. It's certainly not a political statement or a call to arms. Aside from that, when Canadians go south it usually means to go to a warmer climate. This is a natural segue back to Mike's original topic. America is going to see a huge increase in tourism from Canada this winter. Have you seen..... The Loonie is worth $1.07 US today. The bad news is, this is going to kill our exports to the US. Economics professors must be having fun these days. The daily newspaper is better than their textbooks. Then there's "Made in China"... now there's a whole new can of worms... as Laurie would say "Don't get him started!"

I enjoy Mike's posts. He is one of a select few that participate in the Communiy that is actually doing well with his business. Those of us who lack his business sense can learn a great deal from listening to what he says.
Due to a handful of political extremists, harping away on the same old political crap, I find myself in a position where another good post may need to be deleted. I'm sick of it. We can get political BS anywhere. Why is it so hard for you folks, some whom I consider friends, to continue to use this forum to promote your political garbage?
I can't speak for all Letterhead meets, but this Community knows no borders. It's for Letterheads. We're fanatical and extremist, but our passion is united around our love for what we do and the desire to share that knowledge with others just like us. We're looking for new friends, not enemies!
We don't have the time to go thru all these replies and decide which don't belong. The safest bet is to delete the whole thing. Unfortunitly, that often results in the loss of some valuable information. Knock it off!

I've been off line for a few days and what I posted was an feeble attempt at humor, moreso on how information gets distorted than the actual events at the Superdome after Katrina.
Sorry this topic went "south". Rapid

It doesn't matter what side of the border you're on. I don't see how inflation has been or is going to be in check with the price of fuel where it is, and still rising. Fuel cost has to impact the price of everything since nothing is delivered without using it.
